pic related in visuals and gameplay.
Don't listen to shitters who say "Crysis is just a tech demo!"
It actually offers you various ways to tackle objectives through the open-ended design of the levels, the different abilities of the nanosuit, the various weapons at your disposal, and the interactivity of the game world's objects.
The game still allows you to play this way even when the aliens come out.

I will gladly say Crysis 1 is one of the best FPS of all time.

golden era blizzard games. a ton of people still play starcraft, diablo 2, warcraft 3 on battlenet even after two decades. sad commentary on how far the company has fallen given that every game they released between like 1995 and 2005 could be argued as one of the greatest in history, and everything since is trash
>>
>>322465197
Because there arent really alternatives, and the game itself is god tier. If you want a good vampire game, bloodlines is one of a few options.
>>
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2

The style just holds up so well
>>
resident evil 4

Crysis is fine until about the half way point.

The second half of the game is pure ass

I played that again recently. Still great. Got that bundle from whereever with caesar 3, pharoah and zeus.
Zeus is so much easier. You can't really control where people go in caesar without building really wierd cities. So buildings typically collapse and people starve because the food seller or the praetorian go the wrong way on the road.
You build road blocks in zeus so they go where you want them to go and there's no issues.

X-COM: UFO Defense

Made in 1994 and still one of the best games ever made. 94 was a great year for gaming and most of those aged well (Super Metroid, Mega Man X, Sonic 3. Super Street Fighter II Turbo,Tie Fighter,System Shock, Tekken, Tekken, Mother 2 etc).
>>
>>322464530
>less options in attacking
>instead literally tells casuals what to do linearly
>worse graphical performance while also running worse
>shit-tier controls

2 and 3 are as inessential as Bioshock 2.

The first half anyway.

I'm not a huge fan of adventure games, but I just couldn't stop this one. There were some graphical issues, but I really enjoyed the settings and characters. The voice acting for April Ryan was just really warm and entertaining.

Also, Flatout 1 and 2. These are still my go-to arcade racing games.

Still my favorite NFS and superior in every way to that 2012 game.
>>
>>322466714

I played through this so many times as a kid. Running from cops was fun as fuck
>>
>>322464530
definately not, they went over their heads after they made their first game and it shows in Crysis 2 and everything that came after

>>
They all age well and they all age like shit
>>
Crysis was nice but the fact your steps alert enemies unless you are in stealth makes it a lot less fun. I like using cloak to go around them. Then the energy is almost up so you go out of cloak but then bam they know you are behind them. I wish you could just remain silent so you can walk up to them and punch them out. Also the max speed energy consumption is just wank.
>>
>>322468838

My favorite NFS girl for one.
>>
>>322468359
2 is fine but 1 aged pretty badly without nostalgia goggles.
>>
>>322464530
Absolutely not
>>
>>322462945
Gun modding is pretty awesome
Those ice aliens are bullet sponge with high detection range are bullshit tho
>>
FEAR>>322469109
Crysis becomes truly fun when you start modding the various suit and movement/damage values to turn you into an actual superhuman predator
I once punched a jeep so hard that it literally flew over the mountain in the middle of the map, though I don't know why it didn't explode

Almost all 2D game (iso or not) aged finely
>>
>>322463196
Crysis is great on a mechanical level. The predator'like gameplay and freedom of playing is fantastic.

Shame it's trapped in such a shitty game, the progression, enviroments, story and variety makes it really hard to enjoy all the way through. I know its heresy to say this but Crysis 2 improved on the overall pace of 1.
>>
>>322470004
I fucking hate it when your city becomes so big you cant get every house into range of a building.

>>322470226
C2 had smaller levels and the suit functions were way worse
>>
>>322462945
Chaos Theory.

Everything from the visuals to the controls and voice acting have aged like fine wine.
>>
>>322468272
It does, but requires some tweaking and exe changes. It runs perfectly in game.
>>
>>322469912
>though I don't know why it didn't explode

>tomb of sargaras around the corner
>multiple bridges between dun modr and khaz modan
>dark portal that close to blackrock spire and stormwind
Also WC2 was pretty stupid in that only mages were different for the races. And archers had different upgrades.

I think blizzard fucked up by going with Bnet2.0, forcing esports and in general just not making good games. I dont think they ever sat at a table during SC1 development and thought about how everything would be perfectly balanced. Rather they just made 3 races which all had an awesome feel and theme and then changed numbers around a bit.
>>
>>322469741
Played it with friends last year (their first time) and all of them loved it. Stealthy games don't age and game has some great cutscenes and bosses. Time to take off memeglasses.
>>
>>322466475
>TLJ

So fucking much. I've never played a adventure game in my life before this and I still enjoyed it so god damn much.

Any other point & clicks like it? I mean in tone and atmosphere.
>>
>>322466097
They took the worst part of the game and ran with it, i liked the first part enough to overlook the second part but goddamn was it terrible
>>
>>322470543
Well they usually explode when you punch them a bunch of times
>>
For an "old school" 2D dungeon crawler it plays surprisingly well and is pretty easy to get into.

My only big issue is the shitty menus.
>>
>want to drive a tireless car

I still play AoE1 from time to time. I've always prefered it to AoE2.
>>
>>322466097
I actually really like fighting the aliens.
The soldiers seem too helpless and not enough of a challenge. And I also love non-human enemies.
>>
>>322473305
Problem with aliens is that during those parts it is linear and they just take a full magazine in the face before they go down. Also you cant fuck around with them
>>
>>322473626
Yeah, I can see that. I still liked fighting them though, maybe I just have a shit taste.
For me, an open-world Crysis game where you fight both humans and aliens, maybe something set in a city environment where both are at war and both hate you, would be ideal.

Just frag me.
>>
>>322476676
that's because when people say "arena shooter" they literally just mean quake 3 (and arguably UT). it's like people who go around saying "MOBA" and "MMORPG" when really they just mean "dota clones" and "wow clones".
>>
>>322476852
What a bout any FPS in which you need to pick/control weapons, ammo, health and armor? See: Every FPS that wasn't class based.

Incidentally, RtCW:ET (from 13 years ago) is still the best one in that regard.
