It is a bad idea in most cases, but they've shown us a lot of gameplay, and it basically looks like an improved version of EU. They've shown off so much gameplay, and given early builds of the game to 'e-celebs', and nothing was wrong with the footage shown. I can't imagine anything being in the game that would completely ruin it. If you liked EU and want more, I'd say its fine to pre-order

The devs are playing rome 2 in that example though, actual reviewers and 'journalists' have played xcom 2 and showed gameplay, with no problems. Look up some gameplay on youtube, its full of independent youtubers playing an early build that looks perfect, and they have no reason to lie for firaxis
