I'd say Super GnG is on par with the first game if not harder, at least on Professional. The red arremers are the most unpredictable in the series, and the game just has a lot of things that can go wrong constantly. The first game is pretty consistent up until the last level where shit hits the fan.

Not to mention the comparison with Shenmue is retarded. Mainline Mega Man games are very episodic and last only for a few hours each which really can't be said about Shenmue, now can it? The 2 Shenmue games offer more hours of gameplay than like 10 Mega Man games, and that's assuming you're bad at them.
And Inb4 muh 100 mega man games; a lot of the stuff on that list are ports, rereleases of the same games and mobile phone chess games never released out of Japan.
