ITT: Post Joystick recommendations and best PC games for joystick owners
Trying to scoop a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D on Craigslist to help with Tie Fighter
sidewinder 3d pro
i bought the wing commander/privateer saga off GOG for 9,99 and the bought pic related for 109,99. nostalgia ahoy
>>322452879
i wish someone would sell those fancy usb adapters, we don't have radio shack here and i'm bad at soldering.

>109,99
Golly. Do you play a lot of flight/combat sims? What would you recommend to a beginner?
How interested would people be in hand made wooden arcade sticks?
Currently own:
CH Products Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals, and a TrackIR
If I had to buy it all over again I would get:
Saitek X-65
If I was looking to play some flight games and spend the least amount possible:
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro
Everything you need to know.
Best joystick I ever used, got it for cheap too.
Elite: Dangerous
>>322455208
i guess the budget choices are for 35-50$
Thrustmaster T-16000M
Logitech Extreme 3d pro
100-120$
Saitek X52
Saitek X52 pro
150$+
Saitek X-55
X-55 is good for sims, not arcade. It's too big and stiff for quick maneuvers. X-52s work for anything. Budget sticks work for arcade.
Pick what you need.

Thanks anons. The thrustmaster is sexy but I'm not sure how dedicated I am to spending that extra bit
>>322455586
Model?
>>322455720
Overall I think CH products stuff has better build quality and better movement than Saitek
The sole reason to get the X-55 is because the throttle quadrant is so good for milsim stuff. It has the x/y stick for radar/SPI slew. The throttle itself is split for controlling jets with two engines.
If you're not into hardcore milsim CH is better though.
logitech extreme 3d pro is good and cheap.
I also used saitek x-55 and while it was immersive as fuck and had a lot of well-placed buttons, it is far too stiff.

>The thrustmaster is sexy but I'm not sure how dedicated I am to spending that extra bit
Don't. If you're shopping on a budget just get the Extreme 3D Pro. It's so good I've flown with guys in my virtual fighter wings that will drop hundreds of dollars on pedals, throttles, chairs, etc. but refuse to replace their $40 flightstick.
This guy, who trains other people to fly Falcon BMS, used one exclusively last I knew:

Well yeah but CH is maybe not something to recommend in a beginners thread. The cost of a single unit is reasonable but a hotas set is a shitload, plus lack of buttons and rudder twist means youll also want to get MF panels and pedals.
Believe me, it's the one i'd buy if i had 500$ lying around but alas,
buy a retrolink saturn controller amazing for fightan if your a poorfag
Bought myself a TM Warthog for christmas to replace my aging X-52. It's sexy as fuck.
>>322456483
MF panels are unnecessary but I agree that you'll want pedals too. Gotta get that yaw.
A real beginner should just drop $40 on that logi stick and be done. If you're considering spending $150 on a Saitek setup you're already passed the beginners stage and should start asking yourself what it is you really want to play, what matters to you most:
Build quality? Spend the extra on CH Products.
Are you playing more milsims than spacesims? Get the Saitek. Enjoy your radar range knobs and pinky switch.
Do you want a two-stage guntrigger? Haha get fucked nobody makes a stick with that for under $400 and you'll still need to buy pedals
>>322456868
Jesus, that's a beauty.
What do you play the most with it?
>>322456039
Top Gun Fox 2 Pro
>>322452001
that fucking T-16000M, the only bad thing about that joystick is the throttle that brakes fast
>>322456868
It's a really great stick if you like to play DCS-A10C and weirdly out of place if you want to play anything else.
For the money I think the CH Products setup is better.
>>322452001
Check this out.

It's the planefag pastebin for /wgg/.
>>322456996
Falcon BMS mostly so far, since I've been playing it with some other dudes. It's pretty neat to fly the DCS A-10 of course, since it matches 1 to 1.
>>322457172
The stick is the exact same in the F-16, which was a driving factor for me. Switches can be bound to whatever.
>>322456934X52 has two stage trigger
>>322457231
It's weird how that works out though.
The stick is a 1:1 F16 (which is the same as the A-10C except it's haptic)
The throttle is from an A-10C
>>322457323
Wait wut
Seriously?
>>322457480
Yes
>>322457649
Weird. Somehow I missed that the last time I got my hands on one. Or maybe they had broken it.
>>322452001
Now recommend me a game to use these sticks on
posting best joystick
but mine suddenly wont work anymore :/ eventhough it worked fine before.
>>322457902

Shit thunder

>>322457902
For fun arcade-y style stuff:
Descent 1/2
X-Wing / TIE Fighter
Sub Level Zero
Mid-tier Sim
Elite: Dangerous
Evochron Mercenary
Descent Freespace 2
Arma 2/3
I'm Chuck Yeager With A Neckbeard-tier:
DCS World
Falcon BMS
Take On Helicopters
X Plane
IL-2
Only Assholes Get In This Box Tier
War Thunder
Is there any store that you anons know of to try these out or get a feel for them? Or do you just all have friends that use them?
>>322458148
Used to be you could just go into Best Buy and wander into the computer/electronics section and they would have some out of the box you could fuck around with.
These days you prettymuch just have to trust assholes to give you good advice or have friends who are into this stuff.
>>322456868
Warthog is a step up from the plasticy saitek crap, but it's only metal on the outside, but it's still plastic on the inside.
For half the price you can get a CH stick or for the same price you can get pic related, which uses a metal gimbal.
>>322458126
>Elite: Dangerous
Is that game fun?
How is the learning curve?
I been looking at it few times but it doesnt seem that interesting
>>322458578
Fun at first but it gets repetitive after awhile.
Learning curve is very slight. It's the grind towards better ships and equipment that takes up more time.
It's pretty and it fills the void of spacesims I require. Not sure how much enjoyment others will get out of it. Haven't bothered to buy the Horizons expansion because it's over-priced.
>>322458578
Just reading the reviews on steam, it seems to not only be dreadfully boring, but actively infuriating.
Plus apparently the devs are shitters
Is No Man's Sky going to be a proper space sim when you're off planet? Or is it a controller game through and through?
>>322458526
I got the Stick+throttle for $315, I don't think CH is /that/ cheap anywhere.
BM about that price for just the stick, and the actual handle is still a cheap plastic thing. Plus you have to sit on a waitlist for god knows how long.
>>322458925
this does seem a bit jewy
http://store.steampowered.com/app/419270/
is this seriously a 1.5 engine update for the price of a full game? kinda makes me glad i didn't get E:D on sale now
>>322458992
It was designed for PS4, which means designed to be played with a controller. Take that as you will.
>>322458997
You can get a CH Fighter Stick, Pro Throttle, and Pedals for $120 each right from Amazon.
>>322459306
Yeah it's fucking dumb. The devs had said they wanted to add planetary stuff when the game was still in closed Alpha. They never said they would be charging the price of the goddamn game over again to access it.
>>322459306
It seems like complete ass to me. They've basically sold an early access game, but you need to pay for a new game every update.
I'm really hoping this recent trend of space game devs charging exorbitant amounts of dosh for content dies. We get it, space is huge, just fucking develop your game like everyone else
Oh I almost forgot about this one too. If you're looking for something fucking rad to play on your new joystick you can get this for free:
