Eitherway you'll set up an emulated NAND, which is a firmware which works from the SD card instead of the real system NAND.

I got the New 3DS XL for Christmas. Unfortunately the stupid way I've been holding these things since the original DS has me supporting it with my pinky, which I can't do anymore because of where they put the damn power button. I have it on PC, but I wish Freedom Planet was on 3DS and not just Wii U. I wish Spelunky was on 3DS and not just Vita. Webhax is an inconvenient exploit, you need to mess around with the webbrowser to get in.
Menuhax is a semi-permanent exploit. When installed your current Home Menu theme is modified so that if a certain combination is held whilst turning on the 3DS, it'll launch straight into the Homebrew launcher.
If you change your theme in the home menu settings, the exploit will be lost and need to be re-installed.
IronHax is a permanent exploit tied to one of the three savegame slots for IronFall invasion.

Those games were pretty fucking new when this came out. They had the gall to re-release the same All-Stars as a full-fledged Wii title. I mean, I know it was supposed to be a collectible more than anything, but still.
Mind you, the gap between gens isn't as big now as it was back then. Consoles have pretty much lost their point unless you have shit internet and can't into Steam or something. But then why would you even bother with new shit that has updates and DLC and online play?
But even then, that old Nintendo was a lot less cheap. They charge $5 for fucking Balloon Fight in 2016. They could make it complementary in SSB like they did in Animal Crossing, but instead it's a super-short demo.
The fact that full versions of Super Mario Bros were included in the NES Remix games (one had a mirrored version with Luigi, the other was unchanged aside from being in turbo mode) is almost hard to believe now. But back then, they were willing to take four best-selling and still relevant last gen games, one of them previously unreleased (Japan got Super Mario USA for the first time, and we got Lost Levels for the first time), remake them, and include them all as part of a collection.
Imagine a collection of Super Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2, totally remade for the Wii U. And then make a pack-in version called "Super Mario 3D All-Stars + 3D World" and include a slightly updated version of Super Mario 3D World as part of it.
Yeah. That's not going to ever fucking happen. Nintendo isn't cool like that anymore. Have some expensive DLC and DLC in the form of low-quality figurines that can only be tied to one compatible game.

1 cartridge for a portable is pretty huge for one so flashcarts are essential and CIA means you can install literally any game to your sdcard without going through Nintendo/eshop.
To me jumping from game to game easily between pirated installed and flashcart/external games on a console with no hassle whatsoever is the peak that console pirates dream of. it may not seem like a big deal but it's pretty huge to me.
A huge bonus is fantranslated and modded game. for example rutile ruby and star sapphire are difficulty mods that breath some much needed life into gen 6, another example being the Monster Hunter X fan translation which I'd say is pretty much essential.

i'm super late on this, but no. You don't install CFW "over" the OFW, you install it alongside it. You basically dual boot your 3DS. Sysnand = OFW, and emunand = CFW. On Emunand your system will act as it normally would, but with the ability to run unsigned applications (homebrew, pirated games) and can still go online, update normally, etc. Sysnand is required to stay <9.2 in order to boot in to emunand.
tl;dr no, there is ltierally zero risk in bricking your 3DS while installing CFW.

Use the Tubehax DNS (Tubehax is dead, but the DNS blocks update servers from Nintendo) on your Wii U. Change your internet settings to manual DNS and just input the one under Tubehax.
