yeah folks still play, some servers get quite full on 64 depending on time of day and whatnot, though for some reason retards like making 24 or 32 person servers too.
either get the "patch" that fixes the in game server browser, or go through thrid-party shit like game ranger and the likes.

The only good servers on Gameranger are the swag servers, but they crash all the time. There would probably be more servers, but they get constantly ddos by whoever owns the swag servers.

I use the patch with the steam version as well and it works fine.
Never compared the gameranger/normal server populations honestly, though I seemed to find more on the ingame than gamerangers
