Let's talk about Touhou fangames and why the ones I like are better are the ones you like.
First off, the ones I like have a better character selection and music than yours.
>>322400816
Let's talk about /jp/ and why OP should bring his shovelware there.
>>322400816
Can we all agree that this was the worst stage in SSNtG?
>>322401450
>implying it has any bad stages
>>322400816
>tfw Hisoutensoku's stage
I need help.
After updating the game I can no longer save my progress.
Genius of Sappherios is honestly one of the best 2d turn based JRPGs I have ever played and probably one of my favorite (even over legit stuff like the classic FF, CT, etc). And the weekend edition of it basically fixed what few flaws it had.
Just started to replay it recently since i never finished the expansion stuff before. Im on chapter 10 of 21 (main story, expansion has 7 more) and already have 28 hour in it and thats with only a bit of grinding and blue mage learning (game has the best blue magic system ever made).
>>322404123
You have to beat the game to save progress, and choose the first option when entering a new game to use the saved progress (if you choose the second option, then the game enters regular new game mode rather new game+)
>>322404123
Only unlocks and money from completed runs gets passed
>>322404329
>>322404348
That's stupid.
Do I need to do anything else after beating the game?
Are unlocked chars difficulty locked?
>>322404545
>Do I need to do anything else after beating the game?
No, just beat the game.
>Are unlocked chars difficulty locked?
Not that I know of.

Nope. When you purchase a character, the next character on the list becomes available for purchase. The exception is the last character, who is unlocked by beating the game.
Is this game the GOATATTY?

>GOATATTY

lunar capital???!!!
LUNAR CAPITAL!!???!
RRRRAGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!
We need a character tier list
>>322405846
Someone made one. It was posted in yesterday's thread.
Anyone here has played that Yuyuko Ikaruga clone?
How is it?
Why doesn't Tasofro make a proper spinoff sidescroller shmup with ZUN?
Wasn't Touhou supposed to be a horizontal shmup in the beginning?

This. this game is so damn amazing that i wish it wasnt a random touhou doujin game.
Remidoki was a lot of fun. Didn't know you could focus move until near the end though.
>>322406673
Why is Nitori God tier?
Why isn't Seija mid tier?
>>322404159
>(game has the best blue magic system ever made).
Elaborate.
>>322406459
>Wasn't Touhou supposed to be a horizontal shmup in the beginning?
where did you get that from
>>322406459
It was supposed to be Arkanoid, but given the bosses, vertical scroller was the natural progression.
>>322409285The internet
I don't actually remember, I think it was an old interview but I'm not sure.
>>322407796
Satori has over 120 different blue magic spells to learn spread across the entire game (you get here in chapter 5? and there are pretty much new things to learn from 1-4 and 6 to the end of the game, some even from unique bosses).
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/The_Genius_of_Sappheiros/Characters/Satori_Komeiji
Spells from every element, status effect, stat effect, AOE and single target and some hard as fuck spells to get (requiring charm interuption) that do things no other party member can easily do. Depending on how hard you want to grind the spells (weekend edition fixed this a lot since some of the super blue magic spells had 1% learn rates buffed to 10%+), she can be a offensive, defensive, support, physical spells, buffer, debuffer, healers, etc.
>>322406886
Yeah, its probably mechanically the most solid JRPG I've ever played. I've never seen a game that managed to make status effects and buffs/debuffs actually important all game and not just filler shit. Could probably write up a ton of shit on why this game is good as a JRPG.
>>322406054
>>322410265
It's good and fun. If you liked the original, then you'll like it. Gotta be good to see the final spellcards of some bosses, kinda like time in IN.
OST is very good but I never found a proper download for it, which saddens me. Tell me if you do.
>>322410215
Oh, that. So "blue magic" means the copy thing Satori does. Don't the Final Fantasy games have something like that too?
>>322411102
Yeah, I just called it blue magic since its more or less a final fantasy thing (the 2hu game takes inspiration from all the classic JRPGs).
Except the FF with the most blue magic I think is 70 and it has less than 40 spelss (and like half of those can't be learned until the last part of the game).
The blue magic in genius is great not only because of the variety but how its spread out nicely throughout the whole game, with a bunch of unique mobs and spells to grab.
The game does a ton of things that I think are better than most JRPGs have ever done and really probably is the best JRPG i've ever played in terms of mechanics. Also has some of the best balance in terms of bosses, random encounters and party build and skill build (party of 5 + commander, there are 12 characters in game pre-expansion and each character can equip 8 skills out of their set that can grow into the 20s/30s). Tons of ways to fight encounters and bossesand random encounters aren't just hold auto-attack to win (some of them will just wipe you in 2-3 turns if you do that).
>>322411773
Man, you really liked Genius of Sappheiros, didn't you?
Did you play Devil of Decline?
>>322412625
Never did play DoD, not sure if it ever got 100% translated as well.
I remember reading a lot about it on /jp/ and such and the general feeling I got was that it wasn't as good as GoS and was more on the easy side.
>>322400816

>>322414397
What drives someone to put characters that sometimes never even appeared in the stories before?
>>322415015
All "Yabou" games do that, it's no different from RoTK and Nobunaga's ambition putting in literally whos that was mentioned once in a scroll or that one guy who's only feat was falling into a pit and dying.
see
Gihren's greed featuring literal background characters.
It's just what you do, gotta have everyone you can.
>go to do play videogames thinking this thread wasn't going to make it
>come back
>it's still alive
>>322414397
>game that includes ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE
Well that's just not fair.
>>322416097
If it makes you feel better, the player has to update the roster themselves for the newhus like SumiI wouldn't really call this thread alive either
>>322416423
>If it makes you feel better, the player has to update the roster themselves for the newhus like Sumi
>themselves
Meaning?
>I wouldn't really call this thread alive eitherAgreed, but technically it is alive so there.
>>322416602
There's no more updates for this game, so the player has to add new characters themselves with the custom character feature.
>>322416802
So, mod the game.
>>322416890
basically, though if you really wanted to get rowdy you could probably straight up mod a character in custom sprites and all, I hear unity is easy to open up.
>>322413535
>dead group
but why
>>322407464
Nitori can get a shitton of money and more items
Seija is difficult to control
>>322400816
I liked Usami's tower danmaku here
I wonder how ZUN will do her danmaku if she ever gets in a spinoff
>>322420714
That'd be so rad.
Can't wait to see ZUN's take on Gun Sign "3D Printer Gun".
>>322421590
It'd be cool if she threw you the SA rocks as bullets
>>322422569
Her stage just needs to be set in Kourindou, then she gets access to all kinds of trash to throw around. Rocks, old TVs, radios, boxes, old computers, old gaming consoles, Marisa, parts from cars and trains, the whole she-bang.
>>322401450
>Almost no items and money
It was shit
>>322424096
>if a stage doesn't give me money, it's shit
>>322424770
Well the main goal of the game is to get money to buy all the 2hus
Genius of Sappheiros is the best Touhou game.
Megamari, Patchcon and Nitroid are alright too.
How come no one ever talks about this game anymore?
>>322426279it's too hard

Not really, the majority of the songs are just bad.
The ones that are good are REALLY good, but they are by far the minority.

The second has a mostly complete patch, and I believe there's a playthrough of the third game somewhere that has a translation of the dialogue.
>>322428965
Don't worry, I also played it last year.
>>322400816
I've been wanting to download this but haven't had any luck trying to find links. Does anyone here have a download link?

You can update it yourself.

Oh, I'm not the guy who asked for the game, I was just curious. I already have my copy of the game patched so that I can fight the best boss in the game.
