I read the translation of that novel from the FF wiki.
Yuna received a vision from a long dead summoner.
That summoner was a woman and had a guardian who was her lover. Another summoner, a man, asked her to have sex with him. She did so, and when the guardian found out, he raged hard. As he was about to get his revenge, an Al Bhed soldier went into the room and killed him with a bomb that was disguised as a blitzball, assuring his soul will never rest knowing that another summoner did his girl.
That female summoner'd ghost tells Yuna to tell the ghost of the guardian that she loves him, even after she cheated willingly. Yes...
She then makes Yuna sign a pact, that she will not remember her love for Tidus until she does her part and tells the guardian her feelings for him. Yuna falls asleep. In her sleep, she dreams of Tidus, who finds a blitzball, which turned out to be a bomb, and it explodes, killing him. Yuna then wakes up. I guess this was to see if Yuna would fulfill her side of the contract.
Yuna then set off to find the spirit of the guardian, and told him that the other summoner loved him, and afterwards she regained her feelings for Tidus again after putting the restless souls of the summoner and guardian to rest. The end.
I don't get it honestly. So the novel was basically how a spirit taught Yuna to cheat and not feel guilty, and doubt her partner.
