Everyone's going to recommend katawa shoujo because it's the only vn they've played.
I recommend kirakira. It's translation is a little rough around the edges due to being done by a guy with no experience in translating animu stuff related and it's a mangagamer release so you'll need to pirate it(or pay for it, if that's your thing), but it's a great starter VN with a very bittersweet true ending and a killer soundtrack.
