You'd be fine just playing DaS1. If you want more, get Scholar and ignore vanilla DaS2 completely. Unless you're big into pvp, DaS1 is a vastly superior game. But SotFS is still a good game.
Definitely get DaS 1, it's a fucking awesome game. If you enjoy it, you might as well get DaS 2 as well, but personally I didn't think much of it. I'd sooner recommend just playing 1 again.
Also, make sure you play it without using any guides and without summoning at any point. It's much more fulfilling that way.

They're both good games, if you discount base DaS2 and only judge it on SotFS.
Theyre both most definitely worth a play-through.
