Me too. I didn't hate the game, but it's a lot like Skyrim where there are techinically tons of dungeons but none of them have better rewards than you can buy from venders in town. 90% of the dungeons end with you getting a pipe rifle no matter if you're fighting through an army of mutants, ghouls, gunners, or robots.
After the 40th disappointment I just couldn't stand to play any more.
>>
For me? Hell yeah I just finished playing multiplayer games for a while and it was really enjoyable to take a break and take my time with a single player game
>>
>>322324965
Fuck no. Fallout 4 had me bored after a few hours. I mean why fucking Boston of all places? Hell even Amish country would have been more exciting to play in.

Also the old fucking broken engine and no option to play as an evil character.
>>
it made me sad

"Fallout 4" as in the next numbered title in the Fallout franchise of roleplaying games and supposed follower of Fallout 2, reduced to a brainless shooter with a pre-defined main character... how did this happen

I'm going to be honest with you: I put 90 hours into the game looking for something--ANYTHING--interesting. Those 90 hours I will never EVER get back.
>Dialogue is the weakest in the series by far
>About four or five quest lines are interesting: Silver Shroud, the Dig, Any of Valentine's quests (speaking of which, I refuse to believe Bethesda wrote him), the Cabot Family (minus the lameass ending and "IT WAS ALIENS!" excuse), and I think MacCready's quest even though he's an insufferable cuntmuffin. Also, there were robots on a boat?
>The lore to many things is never directly explained; players are expected to be digging through terminals to get to any backstory since, as we know, there is no why (THIS IS A HUGE OFFENDER. THERE NEEDS TO BE A WHY--A REASON)
>The company apparently took the "mods will fix it" mentality when working on the major cities composed of roughly twenty or so people and the building system. It reminds me of some sort of shitty Halo Forge
>Even on the highest difficulty, the game isn't challenging at all, as power armor is available to the player OUT OF THE FIRST QUEST. "M-muh cores! Much limited energy source!" Every vendor and their mother sells them no problem.
>Caps feel almost too fluid to even BE a currency; it doesn't feel that I'm even trading them to buy things and instead feels like "take all of my .38 rounds and give me all of your tape and glue"
>There are maybe ten memorable areas in the game, and most of them are in the Glowing Sea or in THE FUCKING OCEAN. The rest boils down to Office Building #21 or Abandoned Factory Filled with Ghouls #46
>The story was written by my left testicle. I stopped caring when teleportation into the Institute was considered normal.
>Forcing the player to invest into perks that allow them to upgrade armor or weapons is pretty lame, though my friend apparently finds the game runner when he just rolls with what he finds
>THE SKYRIM ENCHANTING SYSTEM QUALIFIES AS UNIQUE WEAPONS

tldr it's p bad
>>
>>322326794
Because kids are fucking stupid and Bethesda knows that. They promote the shit out the these low effort AAA titles and kids beg their parents to buy them. And parents are fucking stupid because they just want their loin spawn to shut the hell up for ten minutes so they buy it for them.

They didn't really rig the reviews. New Vegas in its release state did not deserve 85% - it was buggy as fucking shit(by the way, Fallout 4 was worse). What was bullshit is that Bethesda were in charge of Quality Assurance, so it was really their fault.

Still, pic related

I was mostly referring to the reviews context instead of the scores themselves. If you remember reading them a lot were full of non-sense that is still copypasta'd today by Bethdrones. I found it hard to believe those paid reviewers actually believed their own words, but maybe they are actually just dudebros with FO3 as their first FO.

But yes, they did rig Quality Assurance harder.

>>322324965
I was rather disappointed with the Stormtroopers armor. I know they made it look like cheap plastic because that's what it looks like in Episode 4-6, but still... it looked like cheap plastic. What fucking purpose would it even serve?

Pretty much nailed it. People said FarCry 3 was "Skyrim with guns" when it released but Fallout 4 quite literally is that. It shares the same flaws pretty much. Also hated that the MC's story was already laid out for you instead of coming up with your own. Fuck the dialog wheel, especially since every button was the same response with different words anyway.

>"oh sweet a race track for robots"
>"I wonder if I can bet on races and make mad caps?"
>nope, they're all hostile and you must kill them all

Seems like every interesting looking place was just full of fuckers to kill just like all the others.
>>
>>322330683
Still. Talk shit all you want about Episode 1-3, but they at least actually managed to give you the impression that those races are spacefaring, rather than everyone living in mudhuts and struggling to get enough food for the day while having a FTL space ship sitting in their backyard.
>>

That's your problem. If you'd have bought the game you would generally have to force yourself to play it more often to put that money to use and end up with a hundred hours from these mods.
>>
>>322330930
>If you'd have bought the game you would generally have to force yourself to play it more often to put that money to use
That's a lie. I have way too many games across way too many platforms, I haven't been playing shit.

My backlog stretches beyond eternity.
I will die, but it will continue to grow.
>>
>>322330886
True, but I personally never thought much of SW as a whole. It has it's appeal, but it's way too easy to find things to pick at and break that suspense of disbelief.

I think it speaks quite a bit how KOTOR2 had developed a cult following when it was essentially a deconstruction of SW as a franchise, and it's not just to be edgy or hipster, it's just a fact that SW is a one trick pony that lacks any semblance of depth.

And KOTOR2 wasn't even very deep. It was just deep enough to make you realize that the rest of SW was a puddle.

So it FO4 falls into the category;

>buy the whole game with dlcs from steam summer sale 2 years from now for less than 25€

I have never even spent over 50€ on a vidya game.

I did the same thing with skyrim and it was one of the best decisions of my vidya life.

>Caps feel almost too fluid to even BE a currency; it doesn't feel that I'm even trading them to buy things and instead feels like "take all of my .38 rounds and give me all of your tape and glue"

Let's be fucking honest for a second, even NV had this problem. Unless you make vendors actually only buy things they would buy/afford in-character and not just restock their inventory/cash supply every 3-4 days, which would you know make the game very different, it's impossible.
>>
>>322324965
Yes. I have spent 148 hrs yet across 2 incomplete playthroughs. The game does feel less of an rpg and a Fallout game as others have said, but the world and exploration is amazing. I am playing full vanilla game currently without any mods, who knows how good it will become once all the amazing mods get released.

>Obsidian make New Vegas

>Critics tear it to shreds

>Bethesda make Fallout 4
>It's buggy
>Critics PRAISE it for being buggy

Seriously, I've seen multiple articles and reviews praising Bethesda for leaving Fallout 4 a buggy mess. Seems dodgy to me to be honest.
>>
>>322335031
Fallout 4's bugs range from charming to mildly annoying for a short time.
New Vegas had the game ending, unplayable due to instability kind of bugs.

having somebody have their back to you during a conversation is funny, but having the game crash trying to talk to them is not.
>>
>>322324965
I didn't pay for it, and I still feel ripped off.
>>
>>322335031
New Vegas wasn't just buggy. It crashed every 5 minutes, lagged and stuttered, had extremely long loading times, etc. Fallout 4 has some bugs but they mostly boil down to physics or animation oddities. It never crashes. Skyrim was the same. It's funny to put a bucket on an NPC's head and steal all his stuff right in front of him. It's not funny to wait 10 minutes for your game to load only for it to crash when you go through the next door.

New Vegas was patched up really well though, so that's something at least.
>>
Anyone here pirate it? The game won't launch. I got the crack copied over and my specs meet the requirements but it just goes to a black screen for a second then closes back to desktop. Anyone have success solving this issue?

>>

But no one would anyway, Zenimax is the primary and ONLY supporter they would get. I don't see EA backing CoD, or Activision backing new Battlefield games, why would someone waste their money if there's no way Zenimax will let them have any monetization out of it?
>>
>>322340508
It's just unfortunate that years from now people will look back on the reboot of the franchise and see FO4 as the gem.

The best we can really hope for is some /woke/ folk hailing New Vegas as people do San Andreas.
>>
>>322340680
I wasn't referring to just FO, but even in the case of FO, it's a matter of reputation affecting your chips at the bargaining table with Zenimax/Bethesda.

Obsidian might have had talent, but they failed to capitalize on it regardless of whether or not there was interference. PoE was Kickstartered, but it wasn't anywhere near the success Larian's D:OS was.
>>
>>322340613
It is a much shittier score than it looks, considering they bribe reviewers
>>
>>322340795
>It's just unfortunate that years from now people will look back on the reboot of the franchise and see FO4 as the gem.

That mostly depends on the modding community. Skyrim's main lasting appeal was as a walking and waifu simulator, why not FO4?

You gotta be kidding me if you think people will think vanilla FO4 is a gem when modding exists though. It's just too hard for it to happen naturally.

It's alright. I modded it and made it a casual mix of Borderlands and Stalker. Any roleplaying in this game is absolute dogshit, writing is irredeemably awful and character development is horrible.
