They are Health Points, they are used to represent your health, not your hits. In fact the very term Hit Points doesn't make sense in the first place. In which way they points for your hits? They keep track of every time you hit a enemy? They are used to hit things? No they aren't. Hit Points is fucking stupid. I refuse to acknowledge HP are Hit Points in any game, even if the game or manual states otherwise, they are fucking health points, you dumb stupid faggot of a dev that decided to call health "hits".

It always made more sense to me because hit points makes it seem more mathematical and rule based. Like, your character is only allocated a certain number of arbitrary hit points before he is out of the game.
Health didn't make as much sense to me because health isn't some arbitrary system. Health is something that goes away with disease and old age.
