If I was going to bother gitting gud at a fighting game, which one should it be?
GG
KoF 2002
MvC2
Anything BUT anime.
Third Strike on fightcade
Street Fighter IV.
It's a great beginners game and will offer you core concept introduction to fighting games that can transition over well to most all other fights. It gives you a solid base to start with.

The one with the most players.
SFV comes out in two months, so go with that one.

Seconding this
Also becoming "good" at a fighter is pretty subjective. Do you want to beat all your friends, win a lot online, be a local tournament regular?

Objectively if you want to have the most fun, smash.
If you want to just spend a fuck ton of time learning about frame perfect garbage and get your ass kicked by neckbeards: SF
Skullgirls or Melee

Smash 4 is the WORST smash game yet to play competitively. The past three games have had some facet of entry level skill but the bar is so low in smash 4 it's almost pathetic.

>objectively if you want to have the most fun
>>322319357
>I can't have fun playing a game unless its easy enough that I can instantly be good at it
Typical nintenbrony rhetoric

Stay salty, boys.

Stay stinky, smasher
Street Fighter for 2d, Tekken for 3d, and GG for anime since everything else is irrelevant or dead

Try out 2D, 3D and anime games and find one you like. Ideally, it should be one that your friends play too.

This shit is great, keep it coming
What do people mean when they say "anime" games? Is it just code for ArcSys shit?
>>322320595
anything made in japan

>Ideally, it should be one that your friends play too.
I'll keep that in mind.
>>322320337
>it should be one that your friends play too
Only if his friends try to git good too, otherwise it's gonna be painful for everyone.

Nice bait

I suggest SF3: Online Edition since considering the SFIV meta you wouldn't learn a damn thing.honestly. SFV is pretty new so you'd be learning at the same time as everybody else so you'll be able to learn allot better overall.
IF you're a 3d kinda guy, I suggest DOA5, though most of the community isn't that great, the game is really good and it's easier to pick up than most other games since other than the fundamentals it comes down to raw skill vs another player.
