As a person who just hacked his ps2 for backlog purposes, would /v/ recommend this? I don't play PC so leave those comments out of this. I also loved the shit out of HR, and own both the regular and DIrectors Cut editions. I want something substantial to play on PS2, and also something that's not one of the thousands of jrpgs. How would you rate this version of the game?

Honestly this is a terrible experience on console. Rather than level to level loading areas, there are inter-level loading areas which interrupt the flow of the game.

Xpadder diesnt work with DE. The entire scheme was refocused for the ps2 version. It's literally only playable with a keyboard.
Playing the ps2 version isn't worth it. Just plug in a controller into your pc.

I said that at first but when I was 16 I made a steam account bought Left 4 Dead 2 and Fallout New Vegas and learned in a less than ten mins on how to play them. its very easy you will probably get the hang of it in 5 mins and also start off with a single player game so you can get comfortable with your keyboard. also if you are going to play Deus Ex you must play it on PC only.

ps2 version was the later one. They didn't cut content, but cut levels in tiny bits ps2 hardware could handle. This lead to creative level design decisions to hide level boundaries organically (like broken train on metro level)

Since OP is a faggot, I have a question. I recently got Deus Ex GOTY edition. However, I heard that there was a mod called revision. Should I bother with that, or play the original version. Someone I know said that the difficulty in revision is bullshit, but I figured he was bullshitting me. What should I do, friends?

Play original. Revision is a complete redesign of the game with expanded levels and shit. It's Deus Ex: Fanfiction Edition. Which isn't to say that it's bad, necessarily, but it's not the original game.

If you're not going to play Vanilla for whatever reason download Give Me Deus Ex which totally adds to the game without fucking it up. I vastly prefer it for the little details like Guards being able to see and react to dead bodies.

And yes that's arguably a little thing but I feel it clashes with how the actual Computer Terminals in Deus Ex are very old and reminicent of 90s computing.
GMDX changes up the level design in ways that I definitely feel are in line with the original game. See this video and I'm sure you'll agree.
Revision wants to add a layer of fanciness to an ancient game and GMDX just wants to have everything look on par (some levels in Deus Ex Vanilla are clearly halfassed and that's what GMDX improves on).

Things you should check out instead:

Replacement .exe that lets you switch the DirectX or OpenGL version used to render the game. Gives you modern graphics options like custom resolutions and UI scaling and shit. You'll need to install this if you have compatibility issues (usually not the case).

HD texture mod that does a reasonably good job of making the game look prettier while staying true to the original art direction. Just in case you're some kinda grafixfag.

Play the original first. Then, if you're still interested, play Revision for a new-ish experience.
The problem with Revision is that it doesn't seem to understand what it wants to be. Some of the mission maps are completely new and different, while the others are mostly the same with some changed graphics and a few added areas.
I honestly would've preferred if they'd just went either or. Remake all the maps, or just keep the old ones with some added stuff thrown in.

I have also played the pc version so I can confirm the censorship shit is true but it is very minor. Easy to miss. PC version is best but if you cant, or won't, then this version should still satisfy you though it really does have problems. Fucking loading was bullshit and there is practically no limit to the amount of shit you can carry
