Which one is better?
gameplay pls
Axiom, Odallus is painfully mediocre
Neither of them are anything original, though.
I haven't played Odallus, but I had a ton of fun with Axiom Verge. Played it a bunch during the last part of last year.
Axiom verge is about 75% as good as super metroid.
I would go with it
Axiom. They're both pretty fun but I'll freely admit neither of them do anything overly original.

>Neither of them are anything original
Are you literally retarded? What do you think the point of these "authentic" NES games is?

AXIOM VERGE MY NIGGGGAA
>>322291441
Axiom verge
Rather than flooding the catalog with steam sale threads I'm just gonna ask here - is Galak-Z worth my pennies?
Castle in the darkness
>>322294073
The whole point of Axiom Verge was to subvert what one expected from a NES style game.
>>322291441
hello odallus dev
yes, axiom verge is better and no one cares about your game
>>322295040
If that was the point they were pretty shit at getting it across. The game was great, but the entire time I played I couldn't stop comparing it to Metroid.
>>322295040
I saw it as a massive love letter to those games. Not a subversion but a re-visitation. Tom Happ put together a classic metroid style game but updated it with some modern conventions and a couple gimmicks. Like the superfluous amount of weapons and glitch mechanics.

Played axiom verge this past 2 days, great game with nice music.
>>322295205
>We can't even talk about two games in the same genre during a Steam sale without it being a developer shilling now
Jesus, dude
>>322296741
The graphical changes around glitch pocket worlds are cool as hell
>>322295040
>Subvert
???
I stopped playing once I realized its was just an indie game trying to be metroid, did I miss something?
>>322297005
Missingno glitch
shadow complex, its free right now for pc and infinitely better than both of those shitfests
>axiom verge
>main character is a nerd with dreadlocks
>wears trenchcoats
>story is he literally thinks hes too smart for the universe to handle
>90% of the optional weapons are absolutely and utterly worthless
>glitch mechanic is seldom used meaningfully and is about as useful as the fucking spinner from twilight princess outside of the areas that absolutely require it for progression
>giant eldritch war machines don't betray you and act as badass fucking superbosses
shit game, stay the fuck away from it, it's guaranteed ps+ fodder anyway
CRAP I'M TRAPPED
>>322298663
I dunno where to go next after this boss. I got the grappling claw and went everywhere and no clue where to next.
I preferred environmental station alpha
>>322298939
I'm playing this now after axiom verge. The small graphics hurt my eyes. I have trouble seeing whats going on.
I'm enjoying it though!
>>322298939
wow, that looks like it was made by the guy who made small worlds, a small, minimalist flash based browser game from years ago. fucking loved that game, I'm probably gonna buy this.
>>322299492
Yeah that was my main gripe. I couldn't tell what was the background and what I could walk on. Once you explore the same area a few times you figure it out though
>>322294985
mah nigga
>>322300078
The absolute speed of getting into gameplay and saving and stuff is great though.
I hate when games make me wait minutes to get into a game, or like 30 seconds just to save.

Russalki final form
Esa >>> axiom verge

Hmm, that looks pretty gud. Cheap, 15 - 70 hour playtime, 95% positive. Might pick it up, thanks for the tip.
