What did /v/ think of this series? What would you think if there were a sequel to be developed with Miyazaki at the helm?
Lost Kingdoms will always be that series that I want to play but will never play even when presented the opportunity

The machine cards are usually great

Absolutely loved 2, played through a few times. It really confused the fuck out of me as a kid, though, because of slight element counters that conflicted with pokemon.
Would love a spiritual successor, though doesn't have to be by Miyazaki.

I loved 2, played it first. 1 felt dated when I tried to play it, but I didn't get far. Shame that this franchise is dead and forgotten. Are there any other card games like this? Baten Kaitoa was also good.

I have both of these games.
I love lost kingdoms 1, but 2 really fucked the gameplay. 2 is actually pretty tedious to play.
Also they totally jacked this games UI for the souls games, it's nearly identical.
I remember grinding on the respawning dragon babies with the vine whip defense + healing tree.

I actually prefer 2 gameplay wise. No pokemon-esque random enemy encounters. Transforming was cool and made exploration more interesting (even though the backtracking was a bit much). That one big city in the beginning was annoying to traverse, but I thought the game got better after that.

Have you played the games at all?
LK1 has a set number of encounters per level, while LK2 has endlessly respawning enemies.
the only difference is LK2 doesn't take you to a "battle zone" and you just have your fight right there in the overworld.
LK2 has stupid shit like running out of cards for the level actually being a problem due to the endless enemies, punishing you for exploring. Also the camera is shit as it's constantly in a top down battle camera for the entire game, lk1 lets you actually see where you're going.

With LK2, you at least have the option of retreating from enemies and seeing what you'll be up against. LK1's enemy spawning system just felt jarring and seems outdated today.
I never had an issue running out of cards while exploring, build a better deck bruh

I have both games but I've only played a bit of the first.
I only really got them because I was looking GC RPGs I've never heard of at the time. The fact that From created both games was a plus.

That's it a tiny amount of art for two games that aren't very well known.
That and it's Japanese name(Rune) is pretty generic so it makes looking up fanart a bit of a pain.

Back then Nintendo systems didn't have a focus on JRPGs either. You can count the amount of N64 JRPGs on one hand. For GC? Not counting ports and such maybe two hands. And these games came out pretty early. Like the first came out in 02? The sequel a year later. And lastly From games just wasn't very popular then(Unless it was Armored Core that was sorta popular)

The gameplay and overall style of LK seems like it would be more up his alley than Armored Core. I'd personally love a new LK with Souls influence. Intricate level design, harder enemies and a decent story would be nice.
