It has its moments but it dragged. The story was also too fucking convoluted. it felt like there was some kind of plot twist every fucking cutscene starting at Prison Island. If I ignored the second half of the story, I really enjoyed the game(although it dragged a bit for me once I got to Mechonis). Not really. There's no part of Xenoblade that requires you to grind to beat it unless you want to get 100%. It's the kind of game where you can't rush the story or else you'll be underleveled, or grind constantly or else you'll be burnt out. I got through the game just fine picking up every quest, and only doing the quest objectives along the path of the story.

What I find really missing in X is the way your team mates interact with one another in battle.
In the original you had all kinds of stuff. When you land crits you say something and they respond.
"Aha, the weak spot!"
"Oh man, great attack!"
"Inspirational!"
And each attack is not only unique to each character (aside from Guard Shift), but there are also multiple things they say when they use the attack. "Summon Flare!" could also be "STAR-SEARING FLAMES OF ABSOLUTION!"
In X you only have Soul Voices and the characters only ever say the same thing. Also it's way more serious, not light-hearted or friendly, or goofy or even passionate.
Also holy shit when Lin uses Trash Talk she literally just says "Trash Talk". That drives me up the wall. No "over here!" or "neener neener" or anything that might actually taunt the enemy.
Also no tension gauge, chain attacks or aggro ring. Half the time it feels like the enemy just attacks the air and everybody gets hit. In the first game you knew if you were about to get hit.
At the end of battles they still do have characters occasionally interact with one another, which is something I loved in the first one. But the music is so loud you can't hear what they're saying, and there's no sound options to get around it.
I still think X is a great game, it's extremely addicting to explore the world. But the music, voices, story and progression are a big step down in my opinion.

Both of those are wrong. The battle system sucks shit as you need to be somewhere in the right level range if you want to be able to fight tougher monster otherwise you just straight up won't be able to hit them. Also with how bad the pop in sometimes gets, some of the encounters may as well be random. I'll give you the rest though as I genuinely enjoyed Xenoblade.

I didn't. This wasn't a problem for most of the game since all the stuff that was really tough was obviously so and I could avoid it. However this eventually came to bite me in the ass when I got to the final boss and realised that I wasn't in the right level range for it as all of my attacks were missing. I eventually managed to do without having to reset the game by using Riki's ability to steal EXP from it but having what amounts to an on/off switch for whether you can even fight higher leveled enemies is stupid.

I haven't played XC/XCX and know nothing about them, but when I look at the cover/OP's promotional image of XC it looks grandiose and epic and makes me want to play the game. When I look at XCX's cover/equivalent promotional image it's a complete turn-off. What's with the big change between the cover/concept art of those 2 games?

Oh, and while we're making jabs at XCX compared to the original, it doesn't have any towns outside of New LA. I'll admit I still haven't been through the entire game yet, but in Xenoblade there's Colony 9, Colony 6, Frontier Village, Alcamoth and the hidden village. So far in XCX I've found a Nopon caravan with five characters in it, and that's it.
