For such a hard game why is it that the only thing I have to worry about is getting invaded and falling off ledges? The only way to actually die by enemies in this game is if you're fucking stupid. Sure there are a few hard bosses, but all of them have at least one way to cheese the fuck out of them. If a part is 'too hard' and I need to 'git gud' for it I can just load up with 999 arrows and have a field day. The hardest part about this game is not wanting to noose yourself from the tedious repetition of walking on egg shells.

I think games are only as hard as you make them out to be, You could go magic in pretty much any souls games and trivialize much of the challenge. That said i have a friend who went through his first playthrough of the game without a shield, base iframes and without summoning any help and that was quite the harrowing experience for him.

the great thing of the souls games (except bloodborne, because it's rigid in its design) is that there are multiple ways to tackle bosses. if it means rushing along, blocking and waiting patiently, chucking lightning spears, or hiding in the corner shooting arrows, it is all a testament of how much choice there is in the game.

Really? One of the most common criticisms I see on DaS2 is the increased difficulty due to enemy placement, retarded hitboxes, and tracking.

DaS2 has better texture work but it also looks super flat with the neutered lighting, and the areas are super generic. The graphics are technically much more proficient but there's a lack of interesting / unique visual flair to it.

DaS has really interesting art direction, but I won't disagree the in game realisations of a lot of areas (Lost Izalith, Blighttown with its shitty filter) leave a lot to be desired as well.

The game is hard if you do not know what you are doing. The game is easier if you understand when to evade and how to perform critical hits. Still a fun, playable game in my opinion-- all soul games are fun.

Fucking ADP is the worst idea for a stat ever. I can't believe they tried to fix a useless stat by replacing it with one you're basically required to put ~10 points in regardless of your build when tying iframes to character weight made so much more sense.

Anor Londo's archers force you to be cautious when approaching, and you can deal with them individually in close quarters or at range. How is this not an improvement over the archers in fucking Iron Keep which will aggro along with several Alonne knights at once?

The enemies in Lost Izalith can (and should) be avoided entirely, they don't respawn and also deal damage to each other.

I don't know what you're referring to in the Crystal Cave, the worst thing about that area is the sloped platforms that you can slip off. The clams at the end can be pulled one by one, if that's what you mean.

I don't know what you're talking about in the Depths either. The groups of rats that won't even attack you until you kill some of their friends? Basilisks who can't even kill you aside from their AoE that takes about a minute of exposure to die from?

Also, enemies in DaS2 track the player while they're circlestrafing. You can still avoid them by continuing to strafe but the tracking on their attacks makes them harder to punish for no reason and looks fucking ridiculous.

DaS2 has almost uniformly bad hitboxes on grabs and attacks. There are a lot fewer bad examples in DaS because they don't rely on grab attacks as much and because most of the bosses have much better hitboxes, aside from the Iron Golem's grab, the Centipede Demon, and Ornstein being able to poke you through Smough sometimes.

I was referring to PvE more than PvP. PvE hitboxes are stacked against the player whereas player hitboxes are usually fairer because of the PvP focus, although some weapons are an exception to that too. You can't tell me it's only grabs though, when Ornstein and the Smelter Demon clearly have oversized hitboxes on their regular attacks.

Cherrypicking examples of decent hitboxes doesn't mean that there aren't some enemies and bosses with wildly inaccurate ones. Not everything in the game has that problem by any means, but I think it's more of an issue than in DaS.

Tangential, but I never understood what was going on with that enemy. It's the only kind in the game that seems to be able to attack continuously. Most enemies seem to be governed by the stamina system on some level, it just looks really odd to see it launch another combo right after finishing one.

Unfortunately, there is such a simple fix for it but it's been 4 fucking games and From still won't do it. Either they're incompetent as fuck or they don't care.
