Trying random shit to make some other random shit happen in some remote area is not my idea of a fun puzzle.
I sometimes can't figure out a solution to a puzzle and then I give up and read it in the walkthrough. In any reasonably designed game, when I read the solution I'm like: "ah yeah, I should have thought about that".
In La Mulana, you read the solution and you're like: "what the in the name of fuck is that nonsensical bullshit?"

She only gives hints relative to your overall progress. So if you're stuck on some puzzle you wouldn't normally be at until much later she won't have anything to say. your hints are all the little monuments spread throughout the world to read.
I mean shit man, I'm playing an alpha where I can't pick up items, only have the whip and only certain doors work and I've made it through several zones.

Looks like someone's an elitist cunt that thinks this game is somehow perfect.
Mind me, I found it great, but its controls are terrible, the platforming is laughable, the difficulty for combat is non-existent past a certain point and some puzzles were really bullshit, eg when you have to backtrack to some area you completed ages ago to see that the button you triggered did actually do something there; but in a totally non-intuitive location.

They've changed the goddess statue puzzles between each alpha, so I'm sure the final game will have a different one as well.
Also I suggest trying their really old alpha on the old engine since all the controls worked and you could pick up items.

There's 8 fields and a front and a back to each field. And there's multiple exits from each field to other fields and interactions in one field can easily affect another field entirely.
