i tried playing it last week because of the new update but it was choppy as all hell, 10-20 frames with a gtx 770
i don't know how it could get this unoptimized since it was constantly 60fps back in release, even people with 980s are getting low frames

Two fucking YEARS of screenshots and videos of "in-engine" resources, and when the beta finally drops, we see that everything they were advertising was so far from being functional that it didn't even exist in the game.
Between that, and the complete overhaul of equipment tier stats and planetary danger ratings? This game is dead to me. The people in charge clearly have no fucking idea how to make a video game, and they won't see another dollar of my money for their ill-fated learning experience.

I have an extremely modest gaming PC compared to the average /v/ poster, and I never experience anything under 60 fps while playing Starbound. If you want to criticize the game, great, actually play it and offer some valid criticism. Don't just make things up.
