Anyone else trying to rebuild their older systems' libraries?
Through many factors, I ended up having nothing left over from before ps3-era. I'm regretful of how careless I was with my games at the time.
Now I've been spelunking on Ebay and used game stores to rebuild. Today I found SH2 in goddamn mint condition for $20 at Half-Price Books.

I've been doing that for that past two years man. It helps that I was already collecting games, but damn, getting Gamecube games makes me feel like a villain cause I always buy them off friends and old class mates. I pay horribly under what they go for online. Its fucking ridiculous that a game as common as Melee goes for $50. Its not rare, it wasn't expensive back then. I've seen Melee everytime someone has shown me their gamecube lots. Twilight Princess is more understandable. The Pokemon games, not so much. On a side note, I'm aiming for two hundred PS2 games since thats my all time favorite system, and I'm currently at 83.

I started doing this a few years ago and wound up selling a bunch of it off for a modest profit. The games I have are games I intend to play/can't sell.A huge portion of my collection was stolen by a pack of black assholes back in September. The cops caught the guys and are trying to track down my consoles via ISP address as they have been recently played, but my games are likely all gone. $2,700 down the drain because I stuck around campus for an hour past my office hours to help a student out with their stats.

I bought a shitload of old ps and PS2 games about three years ago. I have a huge library but I never play it. I sort of regret paying for this shit
I kept my favorites for the most part so I don't have a lot to rebuild. A few of the games I sold I do regret though and I'm trying to buy a couple of them back. Most of the ones I sold were games that got remasters, at the time it made sense but now looking at my PS3 I expect it will die much sooner and become a huge hassle to play games on in the future once support for it is dropped.

I bought those three brand new and sealed for around $30 AUD each. Some online shops can be pretty good, they also had Chrono Trigger DS, which is the only legit way to play that game in Australia without importing the PS version, or importing the Snes version and cutting up the cartridge slot.

Then I wouldn't worry about it. If you want, mod it to run games from a hard drive, as the laser is probably the only thing that's really going to fail at this point. If I'm not mistaken, the problem with the old PS2s stemmed from overheating. If it hasn't died at this point, you'll probably be alright.

Yeah, the problem is I'm mostly into JRPGs and not only are they expensive and rare but some of them didn't get a PAL release and is all over the place.

US Saturn cases are pretty fragile in their own right. I love the design, but if you ever drop one it won't survive without at least a crack or broken hinge. Japanese Saturn games are the most reliable of them all. Why couldn't all regions use simple jewel cases?

I'd take a picture of my collection but I stopped collecting stuff about 3-4 years ago, I used to be proud of my stuff I had collected over time now all that stuff is stored away in boxes. I think if I open them up again and displayed them I might be proud of it again. I don't even remember how they all ended up in storage to be honest.
