As well as this P3 was much more dedicated to making the limited time the school year gave you an interesting gameplay element.
All aspects to do with it are so loose in 4 they may as well not matter, you can easily max out most SLs on a first playthough without help while that's extremely hard in 3 unless you maintain a very fixed schedule. Similarly, I'm certain that getting tired while dungeoning was removed because it was poorly received by players, but it improved the flow of the overall game by forcing you to think about budgeting time instead of just grinding 10 levels in a single night.
