Sometimes that just becomes an excuse, though. Like, look at Morrigan from Darkstalkers. She's a succubus, but she was pretty reserved in her original source material. Then in the crossover games they just turned the sexualization way up, and it felt out of character to anyone who was already familiar with the character. And when you try to explain this to people who are only familiar with the crossover version they say "that's the way she's supposed to be, because she's a Succubus!" Completely ignorant that she wasn't like that originally.
