Definitely Bloodborne. Witcher excels in writing and nothing else. It IS fantastic, but as a game itself it's extremely poor and really below average. The open world adds nothing to the experience because if you actually go explore the POIs you'll just find yourself no rewards whatsoever because the loot system is downright garbage. It's by far the most pointless open world I've ever seen. Definitely done only due because it's the latest casual bait, a fad. The combat is just there, it's not good or bad, it's just something you have to do in between good writing sessions. It's not challenging in the slightest and don't trust the fanboys who tell you that it's hard on death march because it's not. The AI in this game is too fucking stupid to ever pose any slight challenge and there's a billion ways to downright break the game, starting with Quen which you have from the get-go.
This game suffers from trying to pander to the lowest common denominator. The gameplay itself feels like Batman/Assassin's Creed.Character building is plain out trash and plateaus very early in the game. The story itself is very uninteresting because Ciri is the biggest mary sue I've seen and you'll stop caring when Act 3 arrives because this game should have ended at Act 2. I was thoroughly invested in the story but after Kaer Morhen I simply couldn't give a fuck anymore and just wanted it to end. It's one of those games that overstay their welcome. It also has zero replayability whatsoever because your choices barely change anything meaningful.
Also if you buy bloodborne, buy The Old Hunters edition that comes with the dlc. The dlc is one of the best I've ever seen. While I have about 220 hours in witcher, at bloodborne I'm already at the 400 hours mark and I have yet to make a lot of characters. It's way better than witcher. Not even a contest here.

Honestly both. I've long finished Bloodborne and the Expansion, it is absolutely brilliant and one of the best games I've played this year yet I'm still slowly working through Witcher3 although admittedly have only really began playing the game recently, it's got a lot of side content and the world is alive and lush, it is an enjoyable experience simply navigating and exploring it.
The combat in Witcher3 is really poor but the game redeems itself in just about every other area. The pacing, the atmosphere, the levels, the story telling, essentially the dialogue with some of the best VA I've ever heard in my life is a nice touch. The sheer content in the game itself all over is just great. I am enjoying the Witcher 3.
Get TW3 if you like the Arkham Games and think Game of Thrones is a quality tv show.

Witcher is great open world RPG with lacking combat and too many copy pasted sidequests that can become a chore if you're one of them compulsive completionists. Main story line is awesome though and it's a fun game overall.
Bloodborne is action rpg with great atmosphere, much better combat and pvp / coop.
No open world, some side areas and few side quests available. There are chalice dungeons if roaming through randomly generated tombs is your thing.

The pacing in this game goes to fucking shit by then. Act 3 is so fucking dragged out.
Also this game has terrible exploration because if you go for the points of interests you'll be bored out of your skull. They are the laziest ctrl+c ctrl+v job there is and you'll never find anything of value other than the very occasional witcher diagram due to the shitty loot system. But you only need to find one in order to see the location of all the rest. And even then you should just buy maps from vendors.
This game's open world is a glorified screenshot simulator. It looks pretty but you're not meant to interact with it in the slightest and keep following your quest markers instead.

I tried witcher 1 back in the day and it was so horribly clunky and unpolished. Geralt seemed like such a pretentious smug edgelord with no real depth. Everytime he talks it would mke me cringe. It was like the voice actor was told to do a Michael Keaton batman with downs. I think I lasted maybe an hour before I had to uninstall. Can't imagine enjoying the other two.

This sounds pretty simple, but it doesn't work so well at the beginning. The game starts with few unhelpful tips on how to fight on all three difficulty settings, and on hard there is no obvious visual feedback indicating when to click again to link a second attack to your first. You're supposed to take click cues from a twirling sound and visual indicators like a flaming sword slash, but this information is buried more than 20 pages into the manual. In order to figure things out from a hands-on perspective, you need to play on easy or medium difficulty, which removes all doubt about when to click by turning the combat icon into a flaming sword. Then you pretty quickly pick up on the visual and audio cues provided during Geralt's actual fighting. When you do get used to things and want to try a more challenging difficulty setting, however, as both easy and medium are a little elementary at times (aside from some of the boss battles), you have to restart the game. Still, even with the poor introduction, it's hard not to love the combat system. Battles are only a little more involved than the standard clickfest stuff, yet the mechanics always make you think about what you're doing and provide real satisfaction when you take out tough foes.
