I didn't see a Mario Maker thread in the catalogue, so here goes. Feel free to discuss Mario Maker, making levels, shilling, whatever.

Ice Ice Baby!: 8D7D-0000-0045-5598 (Simple ice level with a boss in the end.)
Everybody hates waterlevels: 9270-0000-011B-A788 (Straightforward water level)
Deadly Maze: 7D5C-0000-011B-AC34 (A small maze puzzle)
Don't press anything! ;^): B782-0000-011C-854C (You know the drill)
Flying Flaming Firecats: 1640-0000-0126-897F (Flying shoot'em up)

Here's a few levels I made. Feel free to post your own and I will play them.

Do you like

>Variety in obstacles?

Then play the sequel to my last level Ultimate Explorer here:

>Explorer 2: Key to the Ruins
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/037B-0000-015E-DB5E
Mario, the intrepid explorer, is seeking out the ancient ruins said to hide treasure of legendary proportions . However, the entry to the ruins is sealed and he must travel the world to find the key.
The level is pretty big, it's not a technical marvel like some of the other non-linear levels (such as Deus Ex Magikoopa which gets posted pretty often) but I wanted to make it seem like you're really exploring a huge region (or, as big as you can make it seem in Mario Maker). Use powerups to unlock new paths.
Stars are great but if you leave a comment with feedback or a nice doodle I'll really appreciate it.

As a warm-up you can play the first level before. It's pretty short and was just me testing the waters with non-linear design.

Was playing 100 Mario expert and came across a cool course where you have to clear rooms before an enemy hits a P switch, causing the floor to disappear.

Intrigued, I made my own version. Here you go folks can you beat it? It has a 4% clear rate.

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/93D7-0000-0150-5796
>>
>>322216990
I don't know what LOTYAY means but thanks! I love how the ending happens too. I've seen videos of people play it on YouTube and they actually try to jump up and hit the P Switch or they try to climb on to the blocks which delays the Goomba and causes it not to work. This upsets me. But most people seem to play it the way I intended

Also I just drew on your Bullet Onslaught level, it's a shit drawing but holy fuck it took me longer than I'd like to admit

Dante's Inferno: Hade's Dark Pit

ID: B9BD-0000-0160-77E9

Bookmark: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/B9BD-0000-0160-77E9

My longest stage yet. Help our hero Pit as he must first journey deep into the bowels of the Underworld and defeat it's master before he can begin his ascension back to Skyworld!

Pretty Standard platforming fare this time around, nothing too tricky or perilous. A few minor tricks, mostly to theme with each of the 9 levels of Hell as described by Dante Alighieri. 2 Checkpoints, one right before the boss fight!

Boss can potentially take a very long time to defeat unless you find the secret weapon! (pssst- it's not very hard to find).

Difficulty: Medium platforming, Hard due to length, boss Hard/Expert

ID: 326D-0000-0151-3B5F

Bookmark: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/326D-0000-0151-3B5F

Description: A scrolling train-themed obstacle course, help Waluigi rob a mushroom kingdom bank AND passing train! Be warned though, this choo-choo is of the infamous "dungeon train" variety, meaning it has the potential to be infinite! Inspired by the Adventure Time episode "Dungeon Train", the stage is a fast moving, think-quick-on-your-feet platformer... potentially frustrating but NOT impossible!

Hint: AIM FOR THE CENTER!

ID: 83B5-0000-011D-D4FA

Bookmark: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/83B5-0000-011D-D4FA

Description: A dungeon themed platformer with traps, tricks, perilous jumps, puzzles, and a boss fight, all worthy of our favorite Hyrulian Hero.

After some feedback the stage has been scaled back in difficulty a bit, but be aware as the stage progresses it does get a little harder. It's challenging, but not impossible. A little trial and error, like many dungeon videogames, will get you through. Checkpoints will be your saving grace. Stop, look around, and think. There's a solution to all problems. There are also some pretty nasty tricks, so be patient.

protip- The hanging sticky ghosts? Stop moving and they'll pass right over you.

Difficulty: Hard

I made a Wario Land inspired level where you play as Wario and Waluigi! There are four hidden treasures (coin pipes) in the stage, can you find them all and collect the secret riches? The boss of this level is Hard Head; make sure he falls into the bottomless pit to defeat him! I'd love to get some feedback on this level, I put a lot of effort into the visuals and design of it.

I'll add a mushroom or two then. It's always a problem for me that I can beat a level easily while I'm making it and don't realize how hard it actually is for anyone else.
>>
>>322236671
Almost everybody has that same problem when making levels.
>>
>>322236443
Hey, >>322233969 here, I ended up playing your WAAAH level yesterday. Great stuff, enjoyed the level a ton! The only thing I would have changed is put a mushroom dispensing pipe in the part where you need to jump under bricks to free another pipe, since Mario levels don't usually require you to have a mushroom or force you to kill yourself. I didn't have that problem, but I feel like that could annoy some people.
>>322236671
Sounds good to me. I might just be especially casual in the morning, but I seriously feel like adding a mushroom would help a ton to deal with things like random spiny position, random magikoopa creations, Bowser Jr sandwhiching you in a corner with his shells and his clown car... It's like Star Wars, each frame is packed with so much going on.

Thanks! If you're referring to the secret pipes that you need to break two brick blocks to open, that's kind of part of the challenge of the secret pipes in that you need to find them and stay big, but maybe I'll make amends in future levels. As far as the pipe in the boss room goes, I felt that two hits to break the pipe open was kind of fair. I didn't want to put a dispenser in to make the boss trivial, but maybe an extra mushroom would have helped. Future bosses may not require you to be big, though. Thanks for the feedback, anon!

It's based on a weird algorithm involving clears, attempts, and blocks/objects used. This one has several different objects used, but a significantly small percentage of people have cleared it.

Meanwhile, >>322238496 is Super Expert, and it only appears that they used two different objects: music blocks and Bowser. Less blocks = greater expectation of completion, but so few people have completed it.

>1. Clown Car Castle Chase
My favorite level, simply because of its intensity and its creative concept.
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/ABDF-0000-007A-D005

>2. Back and Forth Clockwork
Second favorite, because it's a nice, fun Ghost House with, yet again, a creative concept. https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/E28B-0000-00DA-456B

>3. CCC 2: Electric BOOgaloo

>>322239323
I'll only post my 3 favorite because I don't think I have enough stuff for a top 5. 4-4's not there because while I like it it's too dependent on having played previous stages.

>#3: Rolling Rock Runaway
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/4F11-0000-0108-FB05

It's a level based on the opening bit of the first Indiana Jones movie. You start with training a bit with your whip, then you reach the statue, the boulder follows you, you need to escape, cobwebs before the flagpole.

>#2: Tower of Treasures
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/5DC7-0000-0152-3539
One of the first levels I've done, it's loosely based on Tower of Heaven (interior made of challenge rooms, open area outside) but it's mostly a test at making vertical level design in Mario Maker.

>#1: Crusty Canyon
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/14CC-0000-0152-3FFD

I feel like I succeeded at making it feel like SMW. Plus, I'm happy with my hidden Yoshi placement.

Haven't made a course since a little after the checkpoint update, so I made this level to incorporate both using and working around the newly added Bumpers. No impossible parts, just tried going for a decent difficulty. Think you can find the hidden shortcut that's sure to tilt the heads of people looking to get the fastest time?

For my first level, I made what I thought was a pretty easy, short level, I think I may have died once while making it and testing it around.

Ice Ice Baby was just like you said, a fun simple course. Still pretty good, and felt like from the original game.

Water level was cool, I liked what you did with the spike blocks.

The maze was lots of fun. I usually suck at puzzle levels, but that one wasn't too hard. Well done.

The auto level was pretty well made, and the koopa tidal wave at the end was amusing.

Cool name for the shooting level. Plus that hammer guy almost got me at the end.

Overall, lots of great levels.

>Castle Crush
Fun and challenging, I liked the rising floor you used.
>Stampede Sprint
Pretty hard, the first two Spinys felt impossible to not get hit by, but I enjoyed the level quiet a bit. A few gaps in the back-ground forest would have been nice, IMO. Also, what was the point of the spring?
>Ice Age Alley
This one was too irritating to complete. On top of ice physics, having to run down that long hallway to hit the vine blocks at the beginning became annoying when you die early in the level.
>Oil Drum Alley
Very nice, the bonus sections were fun, and the fire engines as oil drums was a good idea. Enjoyed it/10
Will keep playing, just posting my mini-reviews of these four levels now to keep thread alive.

First one I had fun trying to see how many times I could continue forward by jumping on guys.

Second level has some pretty tricky spiny tricks. Plus that one comment made me laugh.

Third level was actually a little challenging. Still pretty creative with the bombs and the bill launcher.

Fourth level also a bit challenging, but I was just being clumsy there. Still, a pretty good level.

Your little brothers level is pretty funny.

All in all, cool levels yo.
>>
>>322239323
Interesting, why not, time to suck my own dick I guess lel

These are the what I feel like are my best levels

5) King T-Whomp's Tower
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/8E82-0000-00A6-EC71
When I made this level I wanted to create something similar to those tower levels in SMW.
I feel like I succeded and I did a good job at replacating verticality.

4) Piranha Lake of Fire
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/C5FD-0000-00D6-80E8
I wanted to make a raft-based level and in doing so I took the SMB3 castle theme and I turned into something else, a lava lake.
I'm proud of that.

3) Big Mole's Mountain
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/7D47-0000-0090-DD0C
A simple SMW classical level and yet still very good, also my highest starred level actually. About to approach the 100 stars mark.

2) Blocky Tower
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/84F8-0000-010A-379E
I'm really proud on how this turned out, I feel like I really did a good job here especially with how the level has some ''exploration'' in it like a SM64 level.

1) Bowser's DOOM-Ship
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/2FEA-0000-00E4-E098
This is actually a fourt-parts miniseries but I like to consider it one big level, if you play it you'll see why.
I feel like this is my best and most ambitious work, a big level divided in four parts where you infiltrate a huge airship and go through its different section to get to Bowser.
I feel like I really outdid myself here especially with how everything looks.

>Rope Bridge Rumble
The platforming on noteblocks was kind of a pain, but this was fun. I got good at speedrunning the second half by the time I beat the level. The bridge rope visuals was nice as well.
>Rambi Rumble
At first, I thought the level was very visually crowded with all the different blocks, but then I realized that it was a hive level and appreciated the attention to detail. I died a lot, and the level was honestly a little bit agitating, but it was good and well made. The chase from King Zing was fun, but that 6-spiky beetle jump was finicky my first 5 tries. I think you should use more "honey" (vines) in future hive levels.
>Ripsaw Rage
This was really fun, and you made good use of MM's limited vertical screen capabilities. The level was linear but the platform design made it so you could take small short cuts here and there, the first half was a breeze while the second half got me a few times. Also;
>Dying in the final tree because the saws start right under you
This was a mistake, you should have made that door and platform a little bit higher.
>Rocket Barrel Ride
Cleared it on my first try! This was a pretty nice level, though it was a bit easy for a difficult level from the end of a bonus/post-game world. Still, it was fun.

Jumping on the triangles of saws got kind of boring, and the level wasn't too interesting, but I understand if this was one of the earlier levels you made.
>Mine Cart Carnage
I knew from just looking at the map that I wouldn't be able to beat this. This was pretty hard and I quit pretty quickly, but good job keeping the difficulty of the original mine cart levels.
>Riverside Race
This was fun but simple, I think this would benefit from having a few branching paths, maybe even like a few buzzsaws chasing you as the bees. Took a few tries to get 1st place.
>Doorstop Dash
This was nice, but easy to cheese. I don't exactly remember this level from DKC3 though, despite playing the game just last summer...
Anyhow, I'm gonna take a break for now, it was fun playing your levels so far.
>>
Sorry its taking me so long to respond. Was busy playing levels. Taking a break now.

>>322242439
Thanks.

The spring was for a bonus 1 up at the end of the level if you were to bring it all the way to the end if you were interested to do so.

Yeah, I believe it's a little less annoying thanks to the checkpoint, but dying before it isn't fun.

Thanks.

>>322245647
Yep, just like the moving tires in DKC1.

The vines are actually the hooks from DKC2. You would hang on them in the original game, then jump off to get on the sticky walls.

Sorry about that end part. That's pretty much my only easy vertical chase level, cause I wanted to have the saw blades zig zag like a saw cutting wood.

Rocket Barrel Ride is in world 3 or 4 in DKC3. Not that close to the end of the game really.

Thanks for the feedback. I should warn you, lots of my levels could be considered really hard. Especially levels such as Slime Climb, Toxic Tower, Tanked Up Trouble, and pretty much all of my mine cart levels. Except for Carnage, cause I left in the warp barrel from the original level there, so you could take a shortcut if you remember it being there.
>>
>>322242439
I personally found his Ice Age Alley level not too difficult. One of the early jumps is hard but beyond that they're not too precise. You just got be a little careful.
>>
>>322244882
>made a course with a gap that can only be cleared with a spin jump
>give it to my brother
>have to watch him struggle for 10 minutes trying to figure out a way to jump across
>>
>>322247237
My levels are meant to give you the feeling of playing the original levels, while also being the original levels. Bouncing on the sawblades with Yoshi is suppose to give you the feeling you got when bouncing on the rolling tires from the original level. That was the entire concept of the level back then.

It had a warp barrel, but that's only if you remembered where it was in the original level. Even so, yes, its a pretty ridiculously hard level, like all my mine cart levels are.

Well, the entire concept in the original level is about getting the best time to beat Brash. It's a concept that I feel you need to dedicate a entire level to if you want to do it, and that means anything you can outrun as the player, you probably will outrun.

Doorstop Dash was a level where you pulled down on a steel rod to slowly open a door, but once you stopped, it would slowly close. The entire concept was doors that you open, but close after, so you have to get through fast.

Thanks for playing as much as you did.
>>
>>322247797

>>
>>322247947
I know that I probably "should" do that, but doing so would mean taking down that level, along with two others, re-uploading them all to stay in tune with my level order, and it would mess up all of my level lists I have. I know its lazy of me, but its just too much work for something so simple. So no, probably not.
