Too bad the people who have made any of these exploits have stated they're not releasing them.

There's talk about getting SteamOS on this so you could play some shitty indie games on it I guess.

Then there's some minor things like FTP tools and shit.
Most people want homebrew because it enables emulators.
The PS4 is a piece of shit and still cant even run PS1 games. The homebrew people could probably do some quick ports for an emulator.

The PSP wasnt a joke like the Vita. It had Monster Hunter, Gran Tourismo, GTA, Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.

Piracy is a loss in sales.

You'd be surprised at how much of that is shitposting to try and piss off other anons. Oh sure, there are legit pirates who will never buy a thing, there always will be, but more often than not it's some lying retard trying to shitpost for internet laughs.
>>
>>322203234
>ut the piracy genie is out of the bottle and they WILL put in the effort.

The PS4 and Xbone SoCs both have an ARM TrustZone processor. Every game is signed with a key, and is only executed inside of the trusted virtual space. Its the most complex hypervisor there is, and there is no side channel attack or anything of the sort known to be able of bypassing it. Simply put, they're used because they work.

In order to run pirated games on a PS4 or Xbone a group of devs is going to need to find a way to write a completely rewritten firmware to the system. A couple orders of magnitude more complex than CFW on a PSP. Nothing like this has ever been accomplished and it would literally be a world first.
>>

>>322207240
>the fail0verflow team took a WebKit bug recently documented by GitHub user CTurt and then took things up a notch. CTurt's workaround focuses on the PlayStation 4's Webkit browser, which is tricked into freeing processes from the core of the console's operating system by an improvised webpage. The PS4 is powered by Sony's Orbis OS, which is based on a Unix-like software called FreeBSD and is therefore susceptible to common exploits.

The entire piracy scene will be jumping on this. The hardest part is figuring out an exploit that works, now they know.

You can bet fail0ver now have access via this exploit that they have found a bunch of new exploits from the inside.
>>
>>322207539
>You could play all those on a PS2 though

No, no it isn't. This is completely fallacious. Not all security operates in the same realm, not all security has the same goals.
Go Google Samsung KNOX and read up on how it works, segmenting the OS into different virtual spaces securing one of them, and controlling data execution. KNOX security is competent enough that the NSA deems with worthy to use themselves in their own devices.

TrustZone is a far, far more robust implementation of the same concept. It needn't rely on a hardware fuse, its a standalone processing core implemented on die.

Still not there yet.

AFAIK this hack is done through the webkit exploit from FW 1.7 or something like that.

Unless you haven't updated your PS4 is the past 1.5 years or so, you're out of luck.

>Piracy boosted PS2's and PS3's sales.
>PS3 sales

Piracy came very late in the PS3 life cycle and only some models with specific firmware can support piracy. I doubt there is even a million pirates out of 80 million users.

I don't think you understand how piracy exploits works. Protip: PS3's was patched after 3.55 and yet you can pirate every single game on the console, even on models released with newer firmware
>>
I'm on 3.11 but since I don't have ps plus I will not update anymore. Any hope for us 3.11 users in the next while?
>>
>>322215926

>>
>>322201865
>PS4 Homebrews

Welp! Time to buy a PS4!!
>>
>>322215980
You still need 3.55 or a ODE to pirate on PS3. ODE is a whole separate exploit and 3.55 is impossible to get anymore unless you have an old PS3 and a downgrade method like a NOR flasher.

As of today, there's no PS4 downgrade exploit or ODE exploit.
>>

>>
>>322216120
Even if you could buy a PS4 with a older firmware, you wouldn't know which firmware has the kernel exploit since they never said which one has it.
>>
>>322216052
Thats the way ALL homebrew/rooting device starts. The hard part is done, they will have up to current firmware done in no time. Sony will have to resort to hardware modification again but thats only temporary in most cases too.
>>
>>322216327
Except they did, it's 1.76. We also already know which PS4 bundles come with the firmware.
>>
>>322201865

>HDD on USB
Is this why read speeds are shit?
>>
Even if they did get Kernel access, it doesn't guarantee piracy since decrypting signed keys is a whole other issue. At best, it just means homebrew like emulators like they showed in the fail0verlow presentation.
>>
>>322216389
So that's why we got a RTV notice at our Gamestop for remaining stock of those bundles

man they catch on quick.
>>
>>322216197
Sony have made 12 different kinds of PS3 at least since 2006, nearly half of those are hackable with downgrades to 3.55, most are optical/bluray drive hackable to play ISOs or custom apps with modchip hardware.

I can't speak for 360 because I haven't gotten around to hacking mine yet, other than that you need to dual boot it with standard firmware or something.

PS3 is a game of prevention, once you get banned you're essentially screwed, but you can reduce the chances of getting banned significantly by running a stealth app like PSN Patch. I've used it for like a year now, and I've even played pirated games online and I've been fine.

Piracy doesn't equal lost sales, but when daddy sony comes to you so you develop a game and tells you "hey we have an install base of X" and you think X is a good number and you develop a game only to find out that the actual playerbase is X/4 because everybody is too busy using homebrew and playing NES on the thing then you start telling sony to fuck off.

>>322218020
>Meanwhile the PS4 which is saving the entire company

Yes anon I am sure that the minuscule playstation division, which ps4 is only part of is saving the entire company.

I am also sure you are not mentally impaired
>>
>>322218138
Even if the actual playerbase was 1/4th of the PSP's install base, that would still be more players than the Vita's entire install base 4 times over. >>322215875

Blaming the lack of Vita sales on PSP piracy is patently absurd and only the most delusional cucks would actually argue this.
>>
>>322218639

Those stats are really old, Vita must be up to 10-20 million by now
Point stands though
>>
>>322217581
You are quite right but I would still try Bloodborne because of the Lovecraftian stylistics, everything else in the game is not so appealing.
Well, let's be honest. Bloodborn alone even if it can provide you with 15-20 hours of fun, can't make anyone buy PS4 for only one game. It is not rational. If PS4 is really getting hacked as PS3 was you still need a fucking console to play that one game. The majority of other quastionable PS4 exclusives are utter garbage and are not worthy of mentioning anywhere anyway. So, unless Sony provide more exclusives worthy of playing there is no point in hacking Pureystation. It is a good exercise for hackers though.
