They're my favorite games. My friends and I found EDF 2017 in a bargain bin for $5 and decided to go for it. It was so campy and silly that we were instantly in love.
It's a great coop game.

The core concept is great.
The problem is that they look AND play like PS2 games.
That, and people like cutscenes.
Dynasty Warriors style talking during combat doesn't satiate most people.
Would be a perfect arcade cabinet game, but people nowadays aren't willing to shell out proper dosh on a game like EDF

user scores are meaningless most of the time. if a game has a score that a user thinks is too high, instead of giving the game the score they think it deserves, they'll give it something lower like 0 in an effort to sway the average more. Same thing happens if the game has a lower score than someone thinks it deserves. That is, unless that's the median instead of the average, in which case good thinking, metacritic.

I'd say just wait two months. I liked IA as a placeholder until we got 2025 but it is nowhere near as good.
I sat in and played 2025 with a friend for new years, fun times but the grind is ridiculous. We're too casual for hard mode on lvl 45+, had to switch back to normal. Fucking jumping spider and ass rape Japanese hornets. Thunder bow is godlike though.
