Did this KOF ever catch on or did everyone just continue to play 98 and 02?
This shit is pretty underrated
i picked up XIII on the steam sale.
i really love it!
the systems, for whatever reason, are easier for me to grasp than something like street fighter.
XI is severely unbalanced
It's fun just at the casual level but competitively it's stale

In the west I'd say that these days, most KoF tournaments run XIII.
But I guess that's the pattern, 98, 2k2 and whatever is the latest.
I'm willing to bet that after XIV comes out, those tournaments that had XIII, will switch to XIV.

That's why I said, most and west and when I say west I exclude Mexico.
If there are lots of big profile 2k2 and 98 tournaments happening, I must be blind as I'd love to check that shit out, but only buzz I hear about and only vods I see are for XIII.

Most of the KOFs had atleast small scenes/playtime for a while, even the weird shit like Neowave or whatever it was called, 98 and 02 just happen to be the biggest ones.
