Im gay and I really enjoy it. I also own Burst. The story is really good so maybe look it up before playing deep crimson. The gameplay over all is improved. Online is dead.

Also the framerate is horrible, the combat is slow casual and braindead, and the graphics are puke.
I've bought the first game because I wanted a beat em up game to play in short sessions.
After getting a high combo achievement, I think it's a good game to tune out your brain.
The final boss fight in Hebijo academy's side is pretty cool, though.

Pretty much this. I recently got this with a friend for online coop but it gets old fast. Beyond the tits and characters, everything else about the game is shallow as fuck. It's pretty obvious the devs half assed a lot of things just because they know the die hard fans will buy it anyway. I can only speak for Deep Crimson so maybe i just picked up a bad entry in the series but I somehow doubt it.

Not really, the gameplay is incredibly shallow and dull honestly. I mean I guess it's cool if you want to mash and kill time with your favorite girl but these are not games you get for the gameplay because all you're getting here is a shitty musou/beat em up.
