It is pretty faithful. It has a world map similar to Castlevania and has branching paths and shit like CV3.
its castlevania inspiration is really obvious and it does it well.
honestly worth depends on what you like. if you like classicvania you'll probably really like this

Difficulty is pretty subjective, I'm just having an easy time because a lot of the enemies in this game are directly taken from Castelvania and Metroid so I know how to deal with them. The boss patterns are also quite simple to deduce. The last boss I fought had the annoying doors like at the end of Metroid for example, right down to there being things shooting cheerios at you.

to add to that as well, the boss fight is quite similar to the end of Metroid but they do mix it up a bit with this floaty cape thing you have to do so it's not like it's identical.
