Tbh as someone who has the Anthology and GBA versions it's not that bad. I just got finished playing it on the PC. The character models don't look too great but the overall quality of the port is good. Gameplay is still solid and the difficulty hasn't been negated. It has auto-play now which means that your characters will just use the same previous attack over and over (which is a bad idea that will fuck you up if you don't be careful especially if you chose elixirs or a spell that hits reflect).
Of course the aspies will always flip their shit.
But just to let you know, I'm not defending SE. They made a bunch of stupid ass decisions. I hate everything they made in the past decade with the exception of FFXII. I hate anything Tetsuya Nomura gets his claws on as well directing multiple games at once with his horrible taste in character design. I hate that Sakaguchi and Uematsu are gone; the two individuals that are the definitive of what comes to mind when thinking of Final Fantasy.
And yes, I'm aware Sakaguchi fucked up hard with the movie that almost bankrupted Square. But honestly, almost all of his decisions were risky. FFVII was the riskiest ffs. FFXI was a risky move. The original FF was a last gamble for them since SquareSoft was going to go defunct in the mid 80's.

I was emulating FF6 SNES and GBA back to back the other day, even with patches the GBA version is greatly inferior. There's a constant static noise with the music in the GBA version emulated I noticed and the graphics are better with the patch but not perfect. Still too bright and some areas appear cropped due to the GBA's screen.

You're acting as if Trading Cards is not a scam. I'm level 100, got over 130+ games with trading card drops. I get maybe one trading card pack every two weeks or so. The entire way it works is a convoluted mess that forces people to keep purchasing cards.
Put it this way. If there was a game with trading cards that only three people own. Say for example all of them were level 50. You would think that each one had a '100%' chance at an increased drop. Well when crafting a badge, that produces a drop. Since all of them have a 100% chance, it instantly nullifies any benefits of having a great chance on the dice roll of receiving the drop. So you have to keep leveling to get a slighter chance at drops.
Really once you get to level 100 so you can extend your Steam profile it's basically pointless. Even at that, the entire notion of spending countless amounts of money to get to level 100 and have more shit on your profile is ridiculous.

FF on the phones and PC has quicksaves so you don't need a save point. Though it instantly quits you out of the game when you do it and if you load the quicksave it erases it. So you can't use it like a normal savepoint.
