The studio that made it had to rush development and was disbanded the same month it was released. Since then the WoD licence was picked up by CCP who tried to make an MMO that never got finished.

Valve made them rush development because it would have been one of the first source games, and shit all over HL2 if I remember correctly.
Some of their staff even stayed on without pay to get a few final patches out to fix what they could. Would have been so much more.

I've finised this game 3 times in total and I gotta say the most fun I had was as a Nos. The reaction you get from people is hilarious and there was just something so cool about sneaking through levels invisible and snapping necks. Also using potence to beat the shit out of things. Only thing that sucked was the outfits, the default one is just right whilst the rest are just fetish shit that looks dumb.

Anyway I really didn't like the haunted hotel. It was fine the first time around but it's incredibly boring anytime after that.
Obsidian might be working on a spiritual sequel now that Paradox bought the WoD license from whoever had it.
I know the game was rushed through development, but does it feel like it has an appropriate ending? I'm really enjoying the game so far, but I'm going to be disappointed if it just suddenly ends.

I never thought the ending was one of the things that suffered due to rushing. The story gets a pretty nice wrap up. The final two/three levels might feel a bit rushed, but that's pretty much it.
