If you are getting this game purely for gameplay reasons, then no, not worth getting it.
It´s more the sum of it parts that makes it enjoyable.

It's like a musou lite. No actual objectives outside of clear the mooks and progress to the next area. Rinse and repeat. For what it is, it handles itself okay, despite how shallow it is. Deep Crimson does do better in the gameplay department though. You'll be playing for the girls in the long run anyways.
It's like one of those games you just have to turn your brain off and not really think about much. It's simple, and if you're going into the game knowing that/not expecting much, it can be pretty fun and entertaining for a few hours.
Estival has an alright multiplayer too from what little I've played of it. Didn't bother with SVs, if it even had any.

I've only played 2 and honestly it's shit. All the maps take 2 minutes (at most) to complete so it feels like you spend the whole game in loading screens. The gameplay is just spamming special attacks for the most part since normal combos usually don't stagger enemies so they get interrupted constantly.
I could see the games being decent if the whole gameplay aspect wasn't tied to such stupidly short maps.

I've played senran kagura 1, shinovi versus, and senran kagura 2
1 is bland, but I can blame them for their first game about boobies desu. I appreciate their try
shinovi versus has stories that were fun to go through and if youre able to get people to play with you online, then the fun factors gets multiplied if youre the same skill level (4v4)
senran kagura 2 has decent gameplay and story, but still nothing amazing.
You can tell that the people making this game are giving an honest effort to make both a good game, series, and hot anime girls with large breasts.. and I honestly appreciate their effort. Its much harder for an up and coming title to come into fruition from all of the obstacles it has to encounter, and I feel that if given time and money, they will truly make a spectacular game of ninja fighting boobs.

I'm a bit bummed that SK2 seems to be the lowest selling game in the series because it's my favorite. I'm beginning to think I'm done with this series because it feels like they are afraid to add more depth to the gameplay.

Well, they're announcing a new game this year. So, we'll see.
They're all really average games, and I say this as someone who has imported every single one except for Bon Appetite.
They can be amusing for what they are and the gameplay is serviceable, but at the end of the day there's tons of room for improvement and I wouldn't dare call them amazing. I wouldn't really listen to people who say they're worth playing for the story either. Some of the characters get more development than you'd expect, but by the large the stories in the games are pretty generic anime stuff. SK2 felt like straight filler and EV was nonsensical bullshit until the last few chapters.
They're okay if you know what you're getting into but don't expect anything amazing. I only really stick with them because I'm in too deep at this point.

The gameplay isn't complex at all, but it's certainly fun despite being simple, and when you pair that with the cute girls, the character interactions, the story (which isn't award winning writing, but good for what it is), the music, and the devs making efforts to improve each game, you walk away with a pretty good product.

Same here. I'm waiting for the next game to get announced, if it's another SV 1.8 I'm probably done with the series. I like the characters, and Takaki, but he seems to be unable to make any actual progress as far as gameplay goes.

There's a difference between keeping it simple and not trying at all. You don't have your games be hilariously unbalanced, with most missions being completable in like 30 seconds, because you want to "make them simple".
I don't know how much "depth" they could add without changing the entire formula of the games to something different. Even in Burst it always seemed that the series were meant to be simple beat em' ups and not character action games like DMC or God Hand. There's never been a focus on fancy combos.

Yeah I'm not sure what happened after SK1/Burst, but levels in the games after it never had that nice feeling of actually covering a large scale of land. Most levels were just fighting in an arena the entire mission instead of actual level progression.

SK1 had more mission variety too. Not that it changed it up that much, but it was nice to get a mission that wasn't just "kill everything" every once in a while.
EV has bigger stages and missions that last longer, but every now and then you'll still come across a mission that takes place in a single area and the only objective is to beat a boss or two.

For SK1/2 gameplay come up with a good dodging or blocking(with parrying system), stick to longer levels so there is a sense of progression. Frantic mode should be more risky and would like it if you either died in one hit or maybe it was 2 or three hits. Think it would be best for both Nintendo and Sony series if they got rid of the leveling up system and went more towards buying significant and well thought out moves with EXP.

If it makes you feel better, parrying is more or less required in EV if you want to defeat bosses with any semblance of grace.
