Your thoughts on Peace Walker, /v/?
THIS ONE PACKS A PUNCH!
Simple but fun. A good portable game.
i spent 89 hours on it, so i guess that ITS FUCKING GOOD MAN
Fuck the boss fights, but it was alright otherwise
>>322119751
Nah those were nice.
Except the hunting ones.
It was V without all the bullshit.
>>322119862
The main op boss fights were okay, but the last 50 or whatever extra ops are repetitive and not in the least bit fun
>>322119751
i liked the coccoon and the pupa tho
>>322118494
the true metal gear solid 5.
>>322118494
Good game but also the cause of all problems.
I'm so happy to see that I spent my money on a good game. I'm stuck on T-72U right now, but I'm still having fun.
I was just worried about the late game.
Thanks, guys.
Best Metal Gear Solid game, even though most fans of the series won't admit it.
>>322118494
Better than MGSV. Did everything V did but better.
Imagine if v had the co op and monster hunter missions of pw
>>322118494
Ruined the gameplay, the lore and had too much animu shit.
It wasfun
It's my favorite MGS.
MGS5
Simple and fun.
Somewhat decent. Riddled with too many fundamental flaws to be considered great. The game looks good, the mission variety and level design are mostly good. The player is far too overpowered, though, and the enemies are effectively toothless as a result. They're far too stupid. In a shoot-out they're a bit more competent, but not enough to make a difference against all the weapons you can acquire.
>Snake, Zodornov has escaped
>Zadornov has escaped again, Snake
>Uh, Zadornov is gone again, Snake
>You won't believe this, but Zadornov has managed to escape
What the fuck was even the point
>>322122502
No it isn't.
I can't believe the extent that the post-game content retroactively ruined everything for me
>>322123340
To tell you he wasn't escapingKaz was letting him out
You could capture helicopters and that makes it better than MGSV
Okay guys, you can stop now, you made me feel good about spending by money, you can stop now, seriously guys it's okay, please stop
I liked it when I played if that means anything.
But looking back on it it was really tedious and repetitive at times but that's the on the go portable game format that's to "blame" for that.
It was Kojima ripping off Neon Genesis Evangelion: Girlfriend of SteelBest MGS game
>>322118494
Good. But leagues below MGS 1-3.
>>322118494
Great handheld game. Too repetitive and grindy as a console game though. A lot of the content I'd much rather do while taking a shit on the toilet when I have nothing better I could be doing.
I WANNA FUCK DRUNK CECILE WHILE SHE MAKES BIRD CALLS
>>322123340
How the fuck were you supposed to know that he was in the shooting range?
underrated but not best in the series, but definetly the best you can find on the psp.
Portable Ops was better.
>>322118494
Quite unlike the others, but actually pretty good.
Better than MGS V, and the one most similar to it.
Some of the side ops were rubbish, as were many of the boss fights. The torture scene was very hard - clearable, but very hard - and I say that as someone who's finished MGS2 on European Extreme.
Fantastic as a prototype for the base building and staff recruiting elements that later made their mainstay in MGS5. I hadn't seen anything like that since the original XCom (Firaxis's remake wasn't out at the time IIRC) and I thought it was incredible.
Also, features the hamburgers of Kazuhira Miller.
I also thought the tapes detailing the backstory of The Boss were pretty engrossing. I enjoyed the story arc where Snake thinks the Boss could be alive, and it's like he gets his hopes up, but deep down he knows it's not possible...
Yet he's gotta follow the trail to the very end.
>singing helicopters
>sing out loud>the last remnants of The Boss's consciousness drowning the latest Metal Gear
>fucking dragon fighting in an MGS game
>crawling inside the self-destructing brains of Metal Gear Prototypes to rip out their components for your own constructions>social component that was completely useless like most portable games
>>322127509
>die on mission
>game over screen is her singing the game over screen music
I was not expecting that, cracked me the fuck up.
>>322118494
Good game, autists give it a bad rap because it tries to do something new with the series
I just played through main ops and about half of extra ops. I did not like the structure of the game (mission based), mostly due to boss fights (oh you're sneaking, see a boss, point gun at boss, go back to base, pick boss load out, return to mission).
I did find my enjoyment of it increased after I finished main ops, since then it revolved around the game's strength: short, focused objective missions.
I do enjoy the base management, just wish there were more sneaking ops and less repetitive boss fights.
horrible controls, horrible level design, horrible ai, horrible menu diving, horrible tranq/fulton stealth mechanics.
the worst MGS gameplay yet.
>>322118494
Loved it on PS3. Put 350 hours on it on my orignial save, and did a new playthrough from scratch a month before release of V.
Just damn fun and addicting game. Way better "MGS5" than V.
Pretty damn good but the last boss and true ending are both total bullshit that kinda ruined the whole experience.
>>322133227
Sounds like you described MGS2.
>>322133951
mgs2 was redeemed by the bitching music
Never finished it because the bosses are fucking bullet sponges that take forever
Aside from some of the end game optional bosses being damn near impossible to beat because lol you need 4 players! it was a pretty good game.
>>322122502
No. It could have been, but the PSP just doesn't have enough buttons so sacrifices had to be made, and yeah.
Canon
>>322123230
They only seem more competent because of the horrendous control schemes you have you employ when you're playing on PSP. If you play the HD collection with a proper controller it's even easier.
>>322134319
everyone who likes it obviously played the far superior HD port. I myself couldn't stand it on PSP back in the day, but totally fell in love on PS3.
Even the HD version is underwhelming since you still have to sit through a loading screen every 30 seconds during a mission because the areas are so fucking small.
It does feel a lot better on a controller but it everything else about the HD version just highlights how much the game suffered from being a handheld title.
>>322118494
>just started playing the legacy collection HD version yesterday
>only 2 missions in
>already more engaged in it than MGSV
the controls are pretty strange(even with inverted controls turned off, it feels weird to me because it's not like in MGS3), but the gameplay and story are pretty good. I like the whole "animated comic book" art style of the cutscenes. It turned me off at first, but it's growing on me, and more "normal" cutscenes would look weird with the game's graphics, even in the upscaled version.
>>322134456
No, because then it's even easier to destroy the brain dead enemies because you have a controller and can aim properly.
>>322134792
didn't bother me one bit.
>>322134792
>have a controller
>can aim properly
pick one.
>>322133951
Nice bait.
>>322134950
WHAT A CREATIVE POAST
Let me rephrase: You can aim much more easily than you can with fucking 4 face buttons on a handheld.
>>322134117
>spend hour just fighting Peace Walker
>not counting all failed attempts halfway through fight
fuck me for not taking a single break
>>322131692
People give it a bad rap because the story is redundant and the core gameplay is pretty shit.
>>322128391
>dragging simulator 2006 was better
>>322133915
>the last boss and true ending are both total bullshit
How did you not love fighting your own Metal Gear piloted by a petite girl in her underwear while j-[pop plays in the background?
The ZEKE fight was probably the best part of the game for me. The rest of the game was a chore to go through.
at least portable ops let you rebind the shit controls so you could pretend you found a good way to play on a shitty handheld.
>>322136134
I never really had much of a problem with Peace Walker's controls. I can understand why people might dislike them, but they're the least of the game's worries.
I'm also left-handed, though. That may be why I didn't have as much of a problem with them.
>>322118494
LET'S ROCK
>>322118494
Short version: I love it.
Long version: It's great fun for goofing around solo or CO-OPS and indulging in the silly side of MGS, but it's insultingly easy and there's still a MASSIVE amount of wasted potential. It needed less boss fights with marginal variation and more mission with actual complex goals. The story is better than people give it credit for, it's very understated but powerful.
>>322137827
>Peace Walker
>understated
>>322118494
Good MGS, Great PSP game.
