It's $50 at gamestop and I think it could be a handy media device/emulator/play pirated games on.
The microsd to memory stick adapters are on $5 , so I don't need to worry about storage.
On the on the other hand you can get decent used phones/tablets for $100 with more features. Thoughts?

I got one, it's worth it just for emulation, but nes emulation is wonky and snes emulation is pretty bad but gb, gbc, game gear, gba, and psx work great. Also, I have a microsd to memory stick adapter, and it gets random errors when loading something up, so get a real stick.
Depends if you want to play psp games and have dedicated buttons
sick gba machine, psp games aint bad either even if you can emulate them on your phone
>>322108036
I've never had that problem. Maybe you're just using a cheap micro SD and/or adapter. Besides, I'm pretty sure you're going to be paying significantly more for a PSP card than a micro SD.
The PSP is the best for portable emulation. It runs just about everything fine.
It also has the best version of Persona 3
it depends
if you want to play psp games just emulate it on the pc
but if you want a handheld emulator
its the better choice compared to emulating on smartphones even though some smartphones have simply more newer and stronger hardware than the psp
>>322107862
I've actually just bought a used psp to gift my brother. The psp is already cracked so he can just load anything he wants onto it.
What kind of memory card does the psp use though? Do I need a special reader to connect it to the PC? And where in the psp is it located?

how is emulating on psp compared to emulating on a $100 phone/tablet?
>>322108548
Better if only because of physical buttons
What is the best cfw to get?
I want pro c but is it really better than pro b
The actual psp screen is dog shit compared to smartphones though, but for emulated games you probably won't notice, PSP games though, good lord they're horrible.
obviously physical buttons are the best advantage and probably worth getting one for that, unless you get a smartphone with physical buttons or something
Not OP.
I have that one memory stick micro sd adapter with 2 slots. I already had one card for it, but how do I get the other card I just bought to add onto the existing memory?
>>322108548
for starters you actually have something that is made for portable gaming
the thing is basically a gba with 2 more buttons and an analog stick
the thing about the psp is that its old hardware although loading times are almost nonexistant thanks to built-in overclocking (at the expense of battery life) and isos, it doesnt stand up to phones or tablets
if you enjoy having buttons on your screen then more power to you
>>322108795
I dont know if you can just add if you used it already. Might have to reformat it
>>322108518
It uses a Sony memory standard, but you can by microSD adapters that work fine.
>>322108963
>microSD adapters
you mean those big cards you can put a microSD into?
I think I actually already have one, that would be great.
Where do you put that card though? I don't see the slot and I dont want to accidentaly rip the psp apart
>>322109115
Probably not the right adapter you're thinking of. It's on the bottom left side of the psp. Just open the little plug
>>322107862
Get a Go
Load times are Heavenly because of the internal storage

I personally did not like the psp go because it felt too small
it's great if you like playing snes for less than an hour before your battery craps out
>>322108205
>It also has the best version of Persona 3
here's your (You)
>>322107862
More than a Vita at least
Nobody will tell you to get a PS3 or 360 nowadays but I'm very sure there will be a lot of people recommending PSP over fucking Vita.
>>322110240
Maybe your battery is bad because mine lasts longer than that playing snes games
>>322110350
If you want to shitpost at least make it coherent.
>>322110240
>playing snes
everytime I try to load a snes game I have to choose framerate over sound, secrets?
>>322108795
I did this just last week. You'll have to reformat with both cards in there.
Copy all your data onto a folder on your PC, put the second card in, reformat it in the PSP itself, and copy the data from your PC back onto your PSP.
>>322110401
I hope you didn't said that because you own a vita. I feel bad for all the Vita owners (including you if your one)
Getting a PSP is kinda pointless now because even most phones can emulate PPSSPP fine for mobile stuff
>>322110797
I own and enjoy the hell out of my vita. I admit the memory situation is shit but I love the games released for it
>>322110797
then you're an idiot
>>322110797
This is not a Vita thread, nobody was considering buying one here, nobody mentioned it until you did.
>>322110891
The good part about the psp is the dedicated buttons. I personally don't like using on screen buttons or lugging around a controller just to play a game on my phone.
It's OK but the emulation can be spotty.
Is the PSP Go better or on par with the PSP when playing emulation? I'm interested in getting a Go but need to make sure I'm getting the right hardware.
>>322111914
The guts are the same. Maybe you'll prefer the form factor or internal storage.
