Worst dark souls player in the world here (yes even worse than DSP)

I'm getting completely destroyed by this guy. Am I not supposed to fight him yet? That giant skeleton was a joke and now suddenly this.

when he does his charge attack, dodge right. no, not even, you can literally walk to your right when he does it and you won't get hit. once you learn his moveset he becomes piss easy.
everything else is just basic rolling.

raise shield and strafe to his shield side and hit his back, stand at mid range to trigger a charge.

Do this 50 times.

So I guess I'll look for another way to go and come back to him.

Question though, you mentioned ADP. I was sort of forsaking that stat. Is it actually pretty crucial?

Use a weapon with thrust and just roll around all his attacks or you can try to parry him in front of a ballista then use the ballista while he's stunned from your parry.
>>
How to win at any Souls game:

Observe the patterns of the boss with your shield up
Once you can predict what attack he's doing hit him in between attacks

Rolling in Dark Soul 2 is also stupid because you get practically no fucking invincibility frames unless you dump everything into ADP.

Well shit I got too used to doing nothing but rolling in DAS1. Not to mention I picked a dual wielding swordsman to roll and parry. I'm probably just doing it horribly wrong.
>>
>>322096250
Without agility you will have less invincibility frames on your rolls making your timing tighter.
A beginner can't afford that

Nigga what? Pursuer is LITERALLY roll right, the boss. Unless your definition of cheesing him is waiting for him to attack, rolling, and then attacking a thousand times. Most disappointing fight in the game because he looked so damn cool. 2 at once is fucking hard though.
>>
>>322096250
It's necessary to a point because it determines the stat that determines your I-frames when rolling.
But seriously just dodge towards him and conserve your stamina. Don't parry him unless you know how parry his attacks or you'll end up eating a good portion of his attacks.

The fun thing about the Souls games is that once you finish the game and do a new run you won't even get hit by pursuer and just shit on him the first time he shows up because you'll have learned to play.

dude just go to the tower of flames instead of trying to kill the pursuer... you don't even have +1 flask

In SoTFS you'll end up fighting him probably 6 or more times, most of those in the Bastille.
Ironic for OP whose having a shit time with him to get to an area with even more pursuers and even invaders and other mobs if he's unlucky.
>>
>>322095160
You're doing him at a low level probably. Just be prepared to fight him for about 10 minutes. He's easy to dodge and he never pairs his combos. So just dodge his combo, hit twice, repeat

>>
>>322098364
Just buy one, souls come easy later. also get a shield for now. Until you learn to dodge really effectively, you will get recked by mobs until you use a long range weapon or can stunlock enemies. >>322098398
you can't backstab immediately after blocking.
>>
>>322098516
No, but they do need to make some runs a bit easier. Such as the second shortcut in Bloodborne in the Forbidden Woods. It honestly feels longer than just taking the shortcut from the lamp.
>>
>>322098606
I can't stand it. Dark Souls 2 has this weird habit of having more instances where I will use loads of stamina to combo an enemy and they will have 1 HP left and reck me. It happens fucking CONSTANTLY. Like it's intentional. So I use weapons that hit the hardest to prevent that. Lighting and Dark are also good infusions.
>>
>>322098617
There isn't anything past Pursuer, once you've done Lost Giant and Pursuer you're done with FoFG for now. The tree you come back to much later in the game, towards the end, and the only thing left to do there outside of that, is take the Raven to Lost Bastille. Which just makes the run to the boss shorter.
>>
>>322098531
I did. No shield up, light attack button, all positions possible in that narrow alley, before he attacks.

They wouldn't be better, necessarily. Just slightly easier. Being able to just ram your body into something until you "get it" or simply luck out and win isn't very intuitive game design in any case. Being able to just constantly throw yourself at it gives you less motivation to actually learn what your doing wrong and to learn the obstacle itself.

Well the i-frames are still active at the very beginning of the roll, so if you remember the timing well enough you can consistently dodge hits.

BoC is by far the worst one cause the run takes forever and hes a shitty boss that's easy to die to many times

Just summon a phantom and kill him with the ballistae

It takes two volleys to kill him. EZ peasy.

So agi statting is sort of like evasion+3 in monha, a crutch for bad players?
>>

This.

Also all the firebreathing enemies along the way. And it's dark too in parts.

Just started playing DaS2

Holy shit what were they thinking with the HP that gets cut down a little more everytime you die?

Part of what made DaS so compelling was the fact that the player and only the player decided how punitive his death was by managing to reach or not his bloodstain to retrieve his souls.
This brilliant system managed to make deaths that felt super punitive, but that were really not most of the time. It was only pressure put on the player.

But in DaS2, it's straight up unavoidable punishment that can only be removed by using consumables available in a limited amount. A bad player (and I say bad but it's in fact the average player) will be stuck in a negative feedback loop and will die more and more.

I cannot for the life of me think of a reasonnable justification for this system to be added in.

Try using a shield, with low adaptability it's more reliable than rolling.
>>
>>322098516

Everyone just ignores enemies on the run back, all you lose is time, there's no actual threat. Putting bonfires next to doors would probably be handier in that case.

No way dude, you can run through the whole game medium rolling shieldless. It's less painful than low ADP DaS 2 for sure.

B team logic

>dark souls had a great system
>demon's souls had an okay system
>if we mash both together we should have the best system!

I usually kill him on the Arena earlier on where he first drops in by bird to surprise you, he's tough but not impossible.

I just constantly have him targeted and move around his left (your right) constantly and then roll accordingly when he tries to get you, a good number of his attacks won't even hit you (Glowing stab and his dash swing for example) even if you don't roll and you can just chip away at his health in the meantime

The only thing to really watch out for in that situation are regular swings and that combo where he tries to shield bash you and then go for a big swing.

Eventually he'll go down without too much of a struggle, you can even do all this with a starting character, since I tend to avoid spending souls until after Forest Of Fallen Giants. I've helped a few players take him down on the initial arena as well.

Don't over think it the fights, Dark Souls looks more menacing than it actually is. All you really need to get good is a bit of common sense and patience.

At that point in the game? he'll just take all of your stamina and you can't exactly get easy access to a 100 damage reduction shield before him.

There is literally no benefit whatsoever to having a shield against a boss that early on, hell I would question them ever being a benefit throughout the game.

I haven't found them particularly useful in DS2, in Dark Souls I loved using a shield, it was snappy and durable, in this it's sluggish and generally weaker, while on the other hand Rolling is generous as fuck in DS2 compared to Dark Souls so it's like why bother not rolling?

>hard

Haha what
>>
>>322100026
i guess not
>>

Honestly I've consistantly had more issues with Gargoyles than I ever had with Pursuer or Ruin Sentinels.

They're relatively easy, the gargoyles can still be annoying simply because of how many there can be.

>>322099628
I agree outside of Velstadt. That boss can be the biggest cunt sometimes.
>>
>>322099628
Have they made the pursuer harder in SotfS?
After beating him the first time, the pursuer never hit me again.
All you have to do is strafe towards his shield side irc, and you'll avoid all but one of his attacks.
And you can see his jumping shield bash coming at you a mile away,so just roll away.

>>322104172

Not the Pursuer necessarily, but they put him in more compromising areas with his expanded moveset right off the bat.

ADP isn't mandatory though.

I've beaten Fume Knight with sl 75 holy diver build with all point put in for maximun heide lance counterattack. Minimum adp and relatively low health.

However it wasn't very fun.

when in doubt
summon help
>>
>>322095160
Pursuer isn't a mandatory boss.

Try putting down a small soapstone sign. Usually gets you summoned pretty fast and then you'll be back to 100%
