I had a friend who was the biggest halo fan i knew and was saving up for Incliment Weather from release. He got about half way and then Bungie reset his credits because he was getting them too fast and they thought he was boosting/hacking.

CE has the worst campaign, easily. it hasn't aged well.

It has a ton of levels that are endless repeated corridors, which while standard for the time of it's release, don't cut it now.

A lot of the wide open levels it has, while a novelty then, aren't handled well in comparison today: mission 2 is so big you have to drive for like a minute straight from one battle to the next in a mostly empty field. The later halo games still had expansive levels to some degree but were bettr about keeping it a reasonable size, and actually filling the space in.

Also, the latter half of CE is almost the second half in reverse, and there's much less enemy and visual variety in the campaign, I got tired of fighting the covenant in the same sorts of spaces a good mission or 2 before the flood showed up, and I got tired of them 1-2 missions before the end of the game.

2 has the best maps and play on default settings. Reach has the most ways to play with firefight + normal multi + SP MM, forge world, and tons of gametype options. 5 has the best weapon balance.

I wish I'd given up on Halo before playing 4. I never liked the armor powers or whatever in Reach, but 4 was even worse in that regard. Didn't feel like Halo anymore.

What? Halo 2 had way more asymetrical maps then CE, and I don't think it had any less then later titles, and they are more vertical then 3/reach/4 maps for the most part, being on par with CE's and only below 5 in terms of vertaclity. you'll have to explain boring.

Both SMG starts and BR starts are garbage in 2 for sure, 2 had shit weapon balance, but what I meant by that is I feel it has the best core-gameplay given normal modes vs customs or fun bullshit stuff like invasion or warzone.

Did they ever end up remaking blood gulch on the following games? I think there was a shitty version in Reach.

You could select an armor ability in reach but that's it, not your weapons or grenades or anything, except in invasion where there were preset classes but invasion was it's own gametype and it actually worked well there.

4 had CoD style loadouts and even a sort of killstreak system and perks, which was awful but I didn't mind the gun selection too much, god forbid I get to spawn with a carbine instead of a BR

In reach, not in normal game modes. For certain custom ones and invasion you had preset selections, yeah, but that wasn't the default.

4 is when the default modes had it and you could actually make your own sets.
