Ragdolls are fun, but if the enemy just blimps into ragdoll form immediately with no transition it usually looks like shit/breaks immersion

This, MGSV did a good job of having guards crumple into somewhat realistic positions and then be ragdolls afterwards. Most other games just have enemies Havoc physics-ing their way across the map from a tiny hit. Also the ragdoll needs to have some weight to it so legs and shit don't bend backwards (or just clip through the body) for no reason.

With a premade animation you can apply it literally anywhere and call it a day.

With ragdoll you actually have to do some physics code to determine how the ragdoll plays out, plus more code depending on if your game has different types of ammo that do different things to a ragdoll.

Todd also borrowed rage's gunplay and ai; fear's slomo effect and level design as well as mp3 limb shooting for human enemies. Meanwhile having a halo control scheme with infinite guns, grenades, mines, a dozen melee options and tons of buff/debuff items like deus ex with the enemies variety of pre 2010 shooters.
Todd came so close to make the best singleplayer shooter ever made.

Ragdoll. It allows for more random movements and creativity. Killing Flor 2 did a great job using both though, Zeds have animations for getting shot in specific places and whatnot, then the ragdoll for both players and enemies is delicious.

I dislike the hud's cleanliness compared to the first game. The elements like text being bigger and easier to understand is okay, but I think the game's art-style would benefit from a more grim looking hud like in the original.

As for the game itself, It's gotten much better in terms of gameplay for me, and the microtransactions don't bother me until I start to remember they added it in early access (although they did iron out some terrible bugs in the system so I'm guessing that's why they added it to EA also). This last update apparently didn't have much because of holidays coming up, so I'm hoping they release another quickly once they get back into the office.

I've disabled nvidia liquids (still have gibs) and bloom, the freezing still occurs but rarely due to me lowering settings. I think it's a memory usage issue because after I close my browser the freezing occurs much less since space has been freed up.

Max payne for example wouldnt work without ragdoll. Seeing the bullets impact as if you shot bowling balls is an important part of the game and makes you feel like a baller.

Premade deaths with ragdoll to avoid corpses clip through walls is best for realistic games.

Pure premade works better if you want to keep things clean like for an action shooter with lots of enemies

I remember when I was younger, playing freedom fighters on ps2, and blasting this guy over a balcony with a shotgun amazed me. Seeing the flow from his body reacting, then twisting around midair before smacking the ground was a relatively new thing. Or at least uncommon to see compared to games today.
