KOTOR made a mistake in that it assumes Jedi = Light Side and Sith = Dark Side. In TOR you can be a Sith hellbent on conquering and gaining power, but still make pragmatic light side decisions like deciding to attack just a weapons factory instead of an entire area that involves civilian life lost for no reason.
It makes everything deeper instead of dumbing it down to Good vs Evil, and make the Sith stand alone as a faction way better than just comic book villains.
I'd say its well worth playing the Sith Warrior and Imperial Agent storylines if you liked KOTOR, all of it is free.

Quests scale with you. Same with Heroics and you can do them weekly. So you can do that easy heroic on Korriban and still get same amount of level progress at level 15 or level 55. Companions don't need gear anymore and all of them can tank extremely well.

Basically you can completely ignore 90% of the quests and missions. By doing only the main questline of each planet and the class sotry missionbs, you will be overleveled for each planet you visit (well, not really because they introduced level synchronization but still).
Also, companions are OP as fuck and running with an healing comp is absolute faceroll. I was able to physically leave my desk and leave my room to answer the phone after pulling a big mob pack and when I was back, every mobs were dead, I was alive.

The roles are basically flipped, making the Jedi out to be irrational, prone to anger and judgemental. There are several instances where you make Jedi give into their anger and bascially fall to the dark side. Dark side Warrior just straight up kills everyone.

Being a Sith or pro-empire doesn't mean you have to torture evey people you meet with a maniacal laugh. Even the sith code said nothing about it. Passion leads to power, power to victory, victory to freedol and so on, but passion isn't necessarly blind hate. Even though blind hate is easy and powerful to channel.
Basically you are pragmatic, you don't hesitate to kill or smash whatever if it can be beneficial to you (or to the Empire) but that doesn't mean you have to be a dick everytime you can. You can be pretty light-sided if that doesn't change anything for you to reach your goal
