Why are this and 3 regarded as the best in the series? I love both but 2 is piss easy and 3 has weird design choices and seems like it was kinda rushed. My favorite is probably either 4 or 9

IV Gameboy
IV NES
V Gameboy

Top 3 games in the classic MM series right there.

MM II NES has about 6 good levels followed by a pretty crappy endgame.

MM III has delay lag when turning around which hinders your ability to dodge in a number of situations and the Doc Robots are poorly done. The endgame stages are also babby moded.

>IV gameboy
the levels drag on way to much for it to be in the top. Good game though, alot better then I-III on the game boy but inferior to V.

>the levels drag on way to much for it to be in the top.
What, really? V's are longer though. I'm not looking for 10+ minute long levels in any Mega Man game, but it's also nice to have ones that aren't over in 2 minutes tops, especially if they're good through and through.

Literal cancer

>>322016417
My nigga. Finally somebody recognizes that 4 and 9 are the superior games and that 2 is just nostalgia fodder that's got a memorable song in it.
>>
2 & 3 NES respectively have just about the worst menus in the series. 4's every item/weapon/tank one the same screen was a winner.
>>
>>322017709
I admit it's been awhile since I playied IV but I remember the levels dragging on and repeating pretty bad. The worst I remember was crystal man who gad a section repeat 3-4 times in his level.
>>
>>322016417
4 was pretty blah all around...stages, bossfights, music

Also the charge shot was a bad idea. It made me not want to use any subweapons because of how OP it was.
MM3 was definitelly the height of the gameplay. Sliding, but no charge.

it's not about swearwords, it's about 2 having the best OST in a videogame EVER

even hyadain agrees

MM2 has the best intro in the series and one of the best intros of all time.

MM2 has much better boss concepts/level concepts than 3. Really simple, robust, elemental punchy.

>MM2
>choose Bubble Man: jump into spikes. moon gravity!!?! OMGWTF!!!!! I WILL REMEMBER THIS
>choose Quick Man: death barriers spring from everywhere and kill you. OMGWTF!!!! I WILL REMEMBER THIS

>MM3
>choose Top Man: he's... a top? lame
>choose Snake Man: he's... a snake? lame
>>
>>322018597
It's a great OST for sure but a lot of love towards it is pure rose-tinted nostalgia that for some reason makes people blind to greatess of the rest of the series. Mega Man 2 is literally the meme game.
>>
>>322016417
It was the most polished, and everything about it screamed iconic, from the opening sequence to the final boss and beyond. Music's also the best, with pretty much every single track being a high quality one. I do agree it's a bit easy, but it's not hard to see why Mega Man 2 is so beloved. It was also the last game to keep the formula at its purest, which is hit or miss for some.

I've only played and finished 1 and 2 of the classic MMs. I liked 1 more than 2.

No wonder you don't like 4. You don't know how to play it.

Also FYI: the charge shot is OP in 5. not 4.

People always say "Megaman 2 is piss easy," but compared to some of the other Megaman games it's actually higher up on the difficulty scale.

2 is definitely harder than 4, 5, and 6. Those games are definitively "piss easy."

What are you even talking about? 4 has the hardest Robot Masters and Wily fortress.

2 is bullshit poor design decisions "hard".

The bosses in 4 are pretty challenging with buster only also I just felt 4's levels were decently challenging. The only stage the only stage that might be difficult for someone in 2 is quick man's stage. Even then you could just cheese it with flash stopper.
>>
>>322020010
I wish other series' would get this treatment, it always seems to be Megaman.

>no protoman series of games that take place after the classic games and tell what had happened to the other characters.
If zero could get his own series I don't understand why protoman can't.
>>
MM8 is secretly one of the greats. Amazingly fun & useful special weapons with near infinite energy. No e-tanks to save your bacon. Chill as fuck OST. Nice, memorable levels.

Sadly all anybody remembers it for is the voice acting and jump jump slide slide parts, which people think are a challenge for some reason but are really piss easy.
>>
>>322016417
I'm not a fan of enemies relying on charge shots, so I like the previous two over 4. 9 definitely has the best balance out of all of the games though, both in difficulty and weapons.
>>
>>322018597

I think the rest of the series has stronger soundtrack

4 in particular has a stellar one, but it's seen as one of the bad ones by a majority of people.
>>
>>322019480

2 is no way harder than anything else on the series, even with a buster only run.
