generic fantasythough that in itself is actually part of the storygame with great combat that all current gen shitty open world rpgs should strive to at least match. Also has a multiplayer-by-proxy system where instead of you you whore out your minion instead who knows that all roads lead to gran soren. Games a masterwork all, can't go wrong.

Open world Monster Hunter without the Skinner Box, some sense of story, and AI-controlled allies you can train like Pokemon.
Is the best chance you have to battle a Dragon, a Beholder, a Griffin or a Manticore in a way that actually rewards skill and keeps you at the edge of your seat. Every other RPG who has attempted that is fucking stat checks and make believe.
Yawn, wake me up if/when there's mods that make it worth buying and playing this game a third time.

have you read berserk? game is set in pretty much the same world, with all kind of cuhrazy shit. Gameplay is fast and brutal, music is memorable AF and story has a great depth to it even tho it seems pretty generic up until llate parts of the game. It's a MUST PLAY fantasy action rpg.
Bought Dark Arisen for PS3, played a few hours and enjoyed it, but holy fuck did the game not look that great.
Also no Jap audio is a downer (as is no Berserk armor)

Open world Action RPG with an above average combat system.
Seems completely mediocre at first blush, but there ends up being a lot of unique small details, not just cosmetically but mechanically, that shine through.
It also has some nice world-building that falls a bit by the wayside, a lot of it being lost in translation, some very classic monster design without feeling too familiar, and a genuine sense of exploration. If you're the kind of person who hated how generic finding a new dungeon to explore in Oblivion or Skyrim was, you'll like the dungeons in this one - they're very meandering, layered over themselves, and they all feel unique from each other.
That said, graphically not terribly impressive, overall poor voice acting, there is some clumsiness to some aspects of the controls, and the open world is pretty damn static - enemies spawn in the same places, and though there are some dynamically spawning enemies they are so rare they might as well not exist. The game does change this up in the final act but by then you're already facerolling every enemy you'll encounter so it doesn't really matter. Oh and an optional group of party members that you can bring along that are as dumb as a bag of bricks (but can get better) and will never shut up about goblins and wolves.

Not that anon, but that doesn't fix it.
In literally any video game where direction of attacking depends on which direction the character is facing rather than being based on the camera angle, it's better to play with a controller than M+KB.
It's just a fucking fact that WASD is horrible for controlling attack directions.
I've heard rumours the nights in this game is horror.

At first, absolutely. Zombies constantly spawn, stronger goblins come out and there's more Chimeras wandering about.
And then yes, on top of that, it is pitch fucking black. If you don't have a lantern out, you have no idea where you're going, and even with the lantern out, the best you can do is follow what's in front of you, like a road. if you go off the beaten path you will constantly be opening your map to keep your bearings.

Bought the game recently and it asked me if I wanted the voices in japanese or English right from the beginning.
As for the Berserk armors I hope that's wrong
i was until i saw steams system requirements.
