Any beginner guides out there for Blazblue Chrono Phantasma Extend? How steep is the learning curve? I wanted to get competitive in an actual fighting game so bought this on PS4 after playing my friends at Smash almost weekly.

Going through the tutorial and some of the basic Challenge Mode combos will at least give you a feel for how the characters play.
If you want to play with /v/or /vg/, the lobby password is always "vidya". Use keyword search.
Don't know how much it has in common with Smash, but at least the tech rolls and tech chasing has an analog?
BlazBlue has a really good in-game tutorial so just use that

The best way to learn fighting games is to learn a few semi decent hitcheck comboes, and then prance off and get murdered by veterans, whom would demonstrate clearly how to get better at the game. By fucking with your weakpoints until you fix them.
Learning a decent combo is just to get them to show their hand, since if you can't even do THAT, you'd be losing by default.

When grabs and overheads have react-able startups, and jumping is a legit, but punishable choice instead of a sick joke from the developers, and when combos are lenient enough that you could actually copy a combo mid match off your enemy instead of spending hours in training mode just to get the link timings right?
Its easy to get into. For a fighting game. Also, it helps that half the cast have a fun gimmick like grappling chains, magnetism, and a separate controllable entity, instead of the more grounded casts of similar play styles in other games.

do the tutorial then pick a character you think looks cool and do some of their challeges to get a feel for how they move and shit. You should find an easy midscreen, corner, and throw combo. nothing hard just a simple a b c drive combo will work to start you off. an important thing is to get the correct mindset when you start playing people. dont let losses or your rank get to you. win or lose as long as you feel you learned something. save your replays and try to figure out why you lost and try to correct it. remember most people playing now have been playing for years and have experience that surpasses you a shit ton. but thats okay just dont give up and keep playing and you will learn and be just as good as those who beat you now.
