Old Final Fantasies (at least 4 5 and 6 if I remember) have a bestiary of everything you face through the way.
I'm playing through Ys Memories of Celceta now and it too has a giantic journal that records mostly everything in the game -the plot, the game percentage completion in every aspect, every monster and crafting material you defeat/acquire...)
