I just kinda want more in that universe. I know it takes time to make games, but a rhythm game or something on the 3DS would be great. Scary thing is, Splatoon was obviously rushed. If they get the sequel nailed then Nintendo has a pretty good franchise right there.

think of it as TF2 for Wii U. You're a squid/kid with a paint gun and instead of killing as many on the other team as possible to rack up points your goal is to "paint" the stage with your team's color. Whichever team has the most coverage by the end of the round wins. You can defeat the other team's players by shooting your paint guns at them which sends them back to their spawn base. There's a multitude of weapons to choose from, as well as many outfit combinations. There's also several game modes beyond the standard shoot paint to win mode.
It's fun and colorful and a good time waster. However, I stopped playing around mid-July because life got busy, and I'm sure now that everyone else got super good while I wasn't playing I'm afraid of picking it up again.

No problem, but I really don't think this is the type of game you need to worry about skill gaps. At level 1 I was beating level 30's and 50's and making it to the top of the leaderboards without much issue. The game either clicks with you, or it doesn't. Aside from map awareness, there doesn't seem to be much skill you could lose over time that isn't just basic gaming knowledge.

Splatoon wasn't going to be WiiU's system seller, it was its system saver. If this bombs in the same way code name STEAM did, there's a good chance Nintendo just abandons the console market entirely. Finding a hit like this keeps them afloat, but we're going to need details about the NX before the E3 demo if they want to stay in the game.
