I've finished both Hotline Miami countless times and they are nowhere near to Dark Souls satisfaction.

Call me autistic, call me a faggot, call me whatever you like, but Dark Souls was actually a very enlightening experience for me.

I was not in a good point in my life. I'd just lost one job, just lost my girlfriend of three years who I walked in on cheating on me, didn't have a whole lot of money. But I had my xbox. And so, with the money I was making from a new shitty job, I bought Dark Souls on a whim in a $20 bin at Walmart, thinking "Everyone says this game is good, and it's supposed to be hard as balls. I'll at least get some mileage out of it."
I hated it at first. The controls were clunky, enemies killed me for no fucking reason, and a lot of my deaths were bullshit.
But I was determined to get my money's worth and haveFUNwith it.
So I kept at it. Learned about the lore. Realized what an Undead truly is, a creature who's lost their Humanity. And, in pure autistic fashion, I started to realize that -I- had lost a lot of my humanity, too. I'd lost hope, I'd lost faith in myself. But every time I 'died', I picked myself back up. Going through the motions. Was it a good idea? A bad idea? Possibly both. But all I knew how to do at some point was just pick myself back up and keep going. Eventually, either I or the world would buckle, and I made sure that I wouldn't break.
I started to get good. I started to know what I was doing. Learn who was my ally. Know when to have fun, know when to relax, and know when to get into serious mode.
I took care of my dog. My little Sif. His name isn't actually Sif, his name is Scooter and he's m'baby, and I love him. But he's my Sif.
I beat Dark Souls and walked away with some sort of lesson, and good memories about it. Part of the reason why I haven't really sat down with Dark Souls II, since I'm not really in a bad place anymore. I'm actually pretty happy with who I am and where I am. I could certainly be better. But I'm not dead. And that's what counts.
