40k fans are starved for any game above tablet/mobile level trash. So it'll draw them including me. But it won't survive unless there's good servers and a mod ding community. Also they still have a lot to fix regarding gameplay.

for a first time in a long while things might be somewhat looking up for 40K fans in terms of games, we don't have to accept anything we get now, EC will be shit but there's other stuff coming like Battlefleet and the Inquisitor game. I would bet on Freeblade coming to PC at some point too.

I have high hopes for battlefleet gothic and I think it'll probably be the best game we get in the 40k universe for a while, though still unsure how the community for it will hold up compared to eternal crusade.
Low hopes for the Inquisitor game. I'll play it because I like arpgs kinda, but I doubt it will get a following.
Space hulk death-wing might be cool, but it'll probably not have a custom painter/chapter maker.
Devs for 40k games need to realize their audience with 40k. In addition to making a good game it needs customization and a lasting community. People who paint expensive miniatures for a tabletop game that literally won't ever die want a video game in the same fashion. Tabletop 40k is like buying a one time $1500 console (models) that only requires paying for new controllers (codexes) every iteration. It's why Eternal Crusade having good servers and a strong community is something they should strive for.

Their armor is an older version, from the Horus Heresy. I believe most chaos marines customize their own, sometimes it gets changed by the exposure to the warp.

They were the champions of humanity marching across the galaxy, looking grandiose comes with the territory. The excessive spikes, chains, and shit that screams black metal film clip is mostly the result of Chaos either warping the bodies physically or the minds mentally. Some Legions like the Night Lords liked scary looking armour as it played into the psychological warfare they employed.

Necrons are also powerful and resiliant as fuck. a single squad of warriors can take down 2-3 squads of any other race.
Plus fully rez monolith can make units on the fly too.
