I will always recommend Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders (and sequel, KUF: Heroes)
They're RTS / hack and slash hybrids, pretty challenging games.

Might as well play it on PC. But I have to agree that it's a great game. Maybe slightly hard to get into at first.
Mechassault games are pretty rad, but pass on those if you want the more flight sim styled versions of old.
