Actually, when remaking something, you should focus on what made the original good while ironing out the elements that made the game flawed.
Kirby Super Star Ultra didn't just make a 1:1 remake, it actually added features and modes that made the game better than it was before.
Mario Bros. All-Stars included all three NES games with not only a graphical update but also included the lost levels, which was the first time Americans actually got to try the actual SMB2 game.
If I wanted to experience the game as it was, I could just download an emulator or buy a physical copy (assuming I still have the console itself).
