What does /v/ think of Freedom Planet?
It plays well. Character design, story, writing, voice acting are all deviantart-tier shit though.

I think the story is still worth playing because despite the occasionally cringy dialog it does have quite a few good moments, and I was suprisingly invested once I got halfway through.
Also, a lot of what happens in each mission won't make sense without the context of the story since plot happeens during some of the levels too.

The game is goddamned amazing. One of the best "16 bit" (in quotations, because it really isn't 16 bit at all, but that's academic) platformers I've ever played, and far and away the best Sonic style game ever.
But the story is absolute ass.

There's really no context to be lost though. All of Final Dreadnought gives you everything you need to know about Brevon. Even before that, you see Lilac, Carol, Milla, and Torque working together in different stages and posing at the end of a stage they are in together, so you know they're friends. The writing and presentation just needed to be handled differently.

I liked it. It was as 90's as you could get.
Some of the cutscenes were a bit emo-ish, almost felt like drama out of those silly sprite comics you'd read in the early 00's.
But, I suppose that comes with the territory.
The VA was excellent, in any case. They did their job.
I read Femdom Planet and now I'm slightly disappointed.

Terrible. I wish people would realize that he only appeal of classic sonic was the technological aspect, how they worked with the system's limitations to create seemingly impossible features.
NOBODY thinks it was a good platformer on its own, I mean you can barely control a jump and running fast is more likely to get you killed than just walking.
