I have a WiiU and a PC. I enjoy my WiiU, and I like Nintendo as much as I can like a corporation that would screw me over just to make an extra penny.
I don't like Splatoon. It's a great concept and it's super fresh, but the execution feels lacking. Limiting the maps you can play to TWO MAPS every four hours (four if you want to play ranked) is absolutely nonsensical, pointless, and honestly ruined the game for me. Seeing as how each match lasts about two minutes, I can only play the game for about ten minutes before I get bored because I'm just playing the same two tiny maps over and over and over.
A game that you can only really enjoy for ten minutes at a time every four hours should not be a console shooter. It feels like they took an amazing concept for a shooter and then tried to apply the underlying ideas of smartphone games to it by intending for the players to only play for extremely short bursts.
Again: Splatoon is an amazing idea that I think they fucked up really hard with. It's not a bad game, but it is not objectively the best game that's been released this year, and it is NOT worth $60.
